Greetings listers,
Where would we be without love, romance and marriage in Delaware Co or
related to Delaware Co in some way? Pages have been added pertaining to
engagement, marriage, wedding anniversaries back in the day. Makes for
great reading, even if you aren't related.

Does anyone on the list have a Handley/Patterson connection? I have a photo of The Handley Reunion in Heekin Park, dated 1928. My mother, uncles, aunts and grt grandparents (Patterson) are in this photo but I have never heard the name Handley mentioned by family.

hi Virgina
we in N.Y. now
i have the book geneaglogies of the first settlers of the ancient county of Albany n.y. from 1630=1800
it has a, Van Arsdalen, Dirk and Gysbertje De Grauw,
ch: bp; Gerrit,Feb.5,1749; Gerrit,June 21,1752
could this be of your lineage? i thought i remember you saying something about the name
Lois is from the Van Hooser line.
We had a good trip from Florida to texas to N.Y. crossed the Mississippi River 4 times.
Bill n Lois from Cool N.Y.
Thank you for your response.
And the plot thickens!
Neither one of them (Borter or Robert) show a "Samuel" born in August 1843!
I was told by someone earlier that on the 1860 census, Samuel appears after
Charlotte in Borter's household. But if he was born in "1843", then he would
also be there in 1850!!
So if he is not there, he is not Borter's child. So my thought now is that
someone died and Borter took in Samuel after 1850!
So now what do we do?!?

Samuel Gibson married Nancy Smith in Delaware County, IN, on February 28, 1866.
Some say he was the son of Borter Gibson who "married Mary Ann Rhodes"
But others insist he was the son of Robert Gibson who married "Mary Rhodes".
Does anyone have access to the 1850 Delaware County Census to learn if "Samuel" is listed in either one (or both) of these households? (There was a Samuel in 1860 listed with Borter Gibson. Maybe both brothers named a son "Samuel". )

From Pat Sulzer:
I found this on Richland CO,WI web page
some of my Love and Hutson families alaso traveled to this place to live??
J W Garner was born in Delaware Co., Ind., Jan. 10, 1840. In April, 1861, he enlisted in company D, 6th Indiana regiment, and served three months, after which he re-enlisted in the 57th Indiana, with which he served until January, 1866. Mr. Garner participated in thirty-seven hard fought battles, and was never wounded, but of the 109 in company D, in which he first enlisted, only nine lived to return home. He was taken prisoner at Johnsonville, Tenn. He was a brave soldier, and his record one of which he may be justly proud. Returning home, on the 1st day of January, 1866, he was married to Mary Endicotte. He then came to Wisconsin, and has since followed farming in Richland county. His residence is on section 33, Richwood, where he owns 160 acres. Mr. and Mrs. Garner are the parents of the following named children --- Nora, Laura, Becca, Emma, who died in infancy; Gertie, Luella and Carrie. Mr. Garner is a republican, politically, and a member of the GAR

I haven't been able to open the site either

Hello all,
I emailed Damon a second time and he's not sure what's going on. The site
was up and then down again. He's working on the problem and hopes the
problem will correct itself in 24hrs - apparently this is what his ISP is
telling him. HOWEVER, he is leaving for a two week vacation tomorrow. The
site should be up in 24hrs, but if not, will have to wait until he gets back
from vacation.
I told him that we all get into a hissy when unable to access his marvelous
site! I think he laughed.
Cheers,
V.
I'm not able to bring up Damon's website also. Keeps coming up that website
is not available. Thanks,
