My mantra - "if you have any info/photos/whatever-plz sent to me and I will
find a place for it." Actually, I just made that up. <smile>
CARLIS - if you read this - yes, will use your human interest story out of
KY...they're related to you...and you live in Del Co.
Thanks to all,
Virginia
In the 1893 directory in the location column, is that the place of business
or where they lived?
Charles D. BEEMER worked at Bowles & Beemer. At 410 W. Main. Does anyone
know what that was?
Frank BEEMER was a theatrical manage boarding at
La Clede Hotel at the southeast corner of Main and Walnut? Is that hotel
still there? Does anyone have a picture?

postcards!!

Hello all,
Have finished a new section called "Photographs and Information - Delaware
County Cemeteries."
Carlis started it with his photos and info for Beechgrove and Elm Ridge
cemeteries. And it's a good idea...folks living far away might know the name
of an ancestor's cemetery but have no idea of what it might look like or any
other info about it.
Ok...I have pleaded my case....
So if you have photos or tidbits of information about a particular cemetery,
you know what I'm gonna say.
For now, the URL is tucked in at the bottom of:
http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Eindelawa/cemetery-other.html
Seriously, Gina has volunteered several photos and I have listed those
cemeteries at the bottom of the page. But if you have additional info to add
plz send it.
Virginia
Dick,
This is Rosalie Adkins from Hartford City,Indiana. I had the chance today
to scoot to Muncie to the
Gen Library.
I took your info with me on George Moore and checked their Card Files on the
Moore's,the George Moore was included in the card files under the date you
provided. I pulled you an OBIT for him !!
Plus I got you copies of the Beechgrove Cemetery records for Moore's,which
George is among them.
The obit sure doesn't provide any family info though,no survivors listed !!
Shucks !! Now we just have to figure out the rest of the family. I might
have a way of doing this !!
This George Moore was Reverend George Moore,he was a Minister !!
I don't have a scanner for my computer, the only way I have of getting this
info to you is by postal mail.
You can e-mail me separately if you want.
My contact info is as follows:
Rosalie Adkins
E-mail: cherokeerose70(a)hotmail.com
Glad to Help !!

Hello all,
If you have ancestors in Delaware County, Indiana, there's a place for you
to display your ancestor's "human interest" stories on the Delaware County
GenWeb website.
Those wonderful stories usually found in newspapers, but not always...I'll
take them from whatever source, as they never fail to catch and keep
attention down to the last word.
In case you have your information in Word, plz convert to RTF before sending
on attachment. When I try to convert the submitter's Word doc. to RTF, Word
thinks I'm trying to steal info. OR, just copy and paste the Word document
into an e-mail and send it. I can deal with it from there.
Hope you can contribute! Thanks!
The very fledgling page can be found at:

The kind ladies of the Delaware List have given me some more pieces to the Hoover Puzzle!
It seams that the reason I could not find Sarah Smith's husband, Jonas Hoover in Delaware County,IN, is because they were divorced and he left the state!
Sarah A. Smith married Jonas Hoover on October 11, 1860, in Delaware County, IN.
But I do note with interest that in 1880 Sarah (Smith) Hoover was a dress maker in Muncie.
Living with her were her two children, Mary E. Hoover age 18 (born about 1862) and Emerson Hoover age 17 (born about 1863).
Now the interesting thing about this is that apparently shortly after their marriage they went to "Iowa"! I wonder where in Iowa, as she had two first cousins who lived in Marion County, IA.
Could they have left Delaware County, IN, for Iowa together?
Then in 1866, several members of the family left Delaware County, IN, for Minnesota. So apparently their stay in Iowa was rather brief!
On March 20, 1940, Nancy E. (Smith) Gibson was interviewed by the Munice Morning Star.
She told about the group of wagons that left for Minnesota including the wagon "driven by my brother-in-law, Jonas Hoover, and occupied by my sister and their two children." So the two children referred to in this newspaper clipping must be the Mary E. and Emerson Hoover listed above.
So for you people who enjoy "hunting", please let me know if you run across anything on Mary E. and Emerson Hoover!
Your good work is greatly appreciated!

The more information you can give them, the better they'll be able to help you. Most places give your money back if they don't have what you want. Be sure and specify that you want all the information in the death record and not the death certificate. On that price - that may be the cost of a certified document. Probably less for what you need. Maybe someone else knows more about that than I do and can tell you.

I have in my possession a copy of a death certificate for Drusilla (Stewart) Foley. The name is Puff on the certificate - perhaps she remarried. I also have a photocopy of a photo and lineage. Drusilla was the daughter of Martin Stewart and Found Founel. She was born Yorktown, IN and is undoubtedly part of my Stewart line but I haven't connected yet. Can anyone claim her?
Shirley Pearson
Dick,
Death records tell FAR more than death certificates. That's what you need to get.

Beulah Painter was one of my ancestors. She was buried upon her death on 7
Oct. 1840 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery , Delaware Co., Indiana. Do you by chance
have records on her death. I am particularly interested in finding out who
her parents were. I think her parents were Isaac Painter and Sarah Haines
Painter but have been uable to prove such.
