Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Shirley,
I am interested in such a get together. I have several pictures from Monroe
Township and material from the farm abstract concerning ownership of property
by Losh family.

That is a great idea. I am on a Darke County, Ohio mail list. Once a
year (In June) the list members have a get together called "List Fest"
For genealogy research. Go to the Darke County, Ohio website, go to
the list Fest section to find out more about it. You can contact Jane
Torres who organinze's it for idea's and help.

A few years back Kelly and I talked about organizing a carry-in get together
for anyone researching Delaware county. After mentioning it on the list
recently, I saw some interest in doing this, however, I think it should include
Delaware county and ALL the surrounding counties. In short - anyone who is
interested in research in the general area or has any connection.
I have a number of ideas on how to do this and what sort of things to include
for a gathering like this but need some serious input before tackling this
job. In fact, I'm going to ask other list administrators to post this msg to
their list in hopes of encouraging a base of interest for such a gathering. In
the meantime, I'd like to hear (off list please!) any show of interest,
ideas, etc. I believe this needs to be planned far enough ahead to allow those
living some distance time to make plans for the gathering and for any research
they might want to do (on site) while here, so we're probably looking at summer
of 2005.
I need a show of interest and ideas (like maybe a picture table?).

Hello, list...
I inherited quite a number of photos from the King, Drumm, Williams and Jackson
families. Some have names on them but many don't. Is there a way we can
put the pictures up so that possibly between all of us, we can identify
them? Wouldn't that be great?!

With the assistance of the Delaware County, IN, I have received copies of their 1850 & 1860 censuses for the above head of household.
Andrew's first marriage was to Mary Smith, who died on June 4, 1844, in Delaware County, IN.
His second marriage was to Sarah (born between 1816 & 1818) and according to these two censuses, it would appear that she came with some children, so this may be a case of "Yours, Mine, and Ours". Please let me know your thoughts on this. Keeping this in mind, these two censuses show the following children.
(1) Margaret Shafer was born ina bout 1836, in Pennsylvania.
(2) Abraham Shafer was born in about 1838 in Indiana.
(3) Sarah J. Shafer was born in about 1841.
(4) John Shafer was born in about 1845. (Could he be a son of Andrew's first wife, Mary?)
(5) Marion was age 1 on the 1850 census, and "Mary" was age 11 on the 1860 census!
(6) Isaac Shafer was born in about 1851.
(7) Susannah Shafer was born in about 1854.
(8) William Shafer was born in about 1857.
At this point, I have no idea if this family remained in Delaware County, IN.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

I was there about three summers ago and what a peaceful cemetery it is! I
followed the dirt road that ran beside the cornfield back and to the left a
little. There is a fence around the cemetery with a gate located at the
front. When I opened that gate and walked into the cemetery, it was like I
was walking into another world. I found it mowed and in relatively good
condition. There is a creek that runs behind it (or maybe below it) -- I
just know that I heard the running water. Imagine my surprise when I was
looking around (and not paying attention to where I was going -- just lost
in my thoughts) and almost stumbled over a tombstone. When I looked at the
name, I was even more surprised "Margaret Carmichael" -- my mother's maiden
name and my 3rd great grandmother! I found lots of relatives buried there
and was extremely happy that someone is taking care of the cemetery.

Thanks Jim.
Unfortunately I don't see any connections. But then again with a name as
common as Davis it's almost pure luck to match up ancstors with someone else.

It's the first one listed. Good luck.

Subject: [INDELAWA-L] Roll Call - Minnick/Reynolds
I am searching for Mary REYNOLDS.
She was born March 12, 1840 in Indiana and she died in
Delaware County, IN on June 16, 1899. She is buried
at Sanders Cem, Salem Twp.
I am searching for her parents. I have not been able
to find any records with her parents names.
She married George Minnick on 4 Jan 1860 in Daleville.
Their children were James, Glendora, Tehadore, John,
Joseph, Goley, Charles, Samual, and Harry.
I do have more info on the Minnick/Minnich family but
nothing on the Reynolds family. Any help in this
would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for the obituary of Barbara (Stewart) Richardson. She died 27

obituary?
Thanks,

Two lines. One is Asa Davis who came into the county in 1838.
The other is Branson. A Nathan Branson was Justic of he Peace for awhile and
died in 1829. His brothers Isaac and Mahlon Branson were also in the county
by 1820.
Thanks
Eldon Davis
Hi Jim
Am curious about the Davis line you mentiond. What were the names and when in
the county? I have an Asa Davis who purchased land in Washingtom Twp in 1838.
Do you see any connection?
Eldon Davis
A number of you fine folks has attempted to help me prove who is in my "five generation" Rees photo. I greatly appreciate that.
So lets take a second look at this. If Elwood Rees' daughter, Fauna, born in 1877 can not be found, does that mean she died young or went by a different name? (Is she buried near her parents?)
So if Elwood doesn't work, how about his brother, Ransom Rees (born in 1853) as the third generation?
Then we could say that the young female is his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Rees, born November 1882.
So I checked the Indiana Marriage Index that you sent to me & there is a "Mary Rees" who married Clarence Pockinpaugh in 1905. (Well, that don't work as Lewis Smith died in 1904.) So no luck there either!
So are we back to Fauna Rees who may have gone by a different name?

I'd love to come up and meet you all, plus see the area and do research.
I've never been there, and don't think it will happen anytime soon.

I have talked about a combined Ranco/DelaCo get together one summer here in

trying to talk Gina into buying a house to give away in a drawing. So far,
she's not cooperating.
