Hi
I've been giving a lot of thought recently about what to do with my
files after I've 'moved on' to join the ancestors I'm studying. I have
decided to donate my files to some society or another with one (I hope
iron clad) proviso and that is that no one will ever be charged, either
directly or indirectly, for using my information. If whoever I decide
to give my research to cannot agree to that...then I'll just keep
looking until I find someone who will. I guess "I" feel that there is
enough 'people' out there getting rich out of others research, I sure
don't have to add any $$ to their pockets.
I'm not suggesting this course of action to anyone else... It is just
what I have decided to do.
Tom

Hi list ..especially to Pat, Gina, Shirley, Mary Lou...you all do such a
peach of a job...
I am looking for some help in trying to link RubiePerline BICE to Moral L.
BICE and Mary R. (LYKINS) BICE.
Rubie's death record in as follows...if someone could look this up for me, do
you think it might list her parents as she died at 16?
Rubie Perline BICE FW 14 (some accounts say 14, the obit says 16) Dec 15,
1916 Mt. Pleasant Twp H-10-80.
I have her obit and it says she died at the home of her GRANDPARENTS, Warren
L. BICE. Niether obit notice states any parents, so I assumed she was an
orphan. BUT now, I find the 1910 census (Mt. Pleasant Twp.) stating that Moral
and Mary have a daughter RUBY who was 11. I believe she would have been born
in 1900 or 1901. On that 1910 cesus it states that Mary is the mother of 3
children, 2 living. That jives with what I have, a Female baby born 13 May 1897
to Moral and Mary and another daughter, Blanche born 15 March 1899, who was
also on this 1899 census. I did not find another child born to Moral and Mary
after Blanche except a son, James Elihu born 2 March 1902 and I found his death
on 2 Dec 1902. I would like to connect or disconnect Rubie to Moral and
Mary. Another reason I think she may be thier daughter is in Moral's obit 27 May
1920 in the Muncie Morning Star it lists one of his daughter's as Mrs. Pearl
NIGHART of Milleville, IN. Could this be Rubie Perline?? I sure can't locate
any NIGHART's either...What county is Milleville in? Any help anyone could
give with this long winded request would be greatly appreciated.

Hello I am thinking I will give to my niece all the records she wants
then what ever is left over I will donate to whatever genealogical society,
the records most likely pertain to.
I have lots of records from a small town in MO and they have a very small
library and they do accept three ring binders of family records( IF your
ancestors lived in the area.) Thats Cuba, Crawford Co,MO. some of my ancestors who
were born in Delaware Co IN eventually traveld to Cuba, Crawford Co,Mo and are
buried there.
so I will donate family records and book pertaining to Mo to them
the same with my family records for Ohio they will go to Pike Co Ohio and
Highland Co Ohio.(those folks also traveled to Cuba, Crawford Co,Mo and died
there)
that leaves my family records pertaining to Delaware Co IN-now where should I
be sending these records to????????
any suggestions or ideas welcomed
thanks
pat
Because in 1956 my husband moved me and my 3 children to CA. So I never get back to my mothers, grandmother, or grandpa's grave maybe once every 20 years. So if you have an extra rose from your garden please put it on one of those graves that never have anything. Thank you, JoAnn Russell Statom
I think this is a question one might pose to the local library or any library with a good genealogy department. I've had the same worry going through my head. I know I can donate our old county history books and city directories but all the other things concern me.
Bracken Library at Ball State has a large genealogy section so universities are another possibility.
Even if nothing was done with all this stuff right away, in either case, they do have a record that they have it, what they have and where it is...so it would be available to another person researching that line or to a volunteer who might work on archiving it in a more permanent way.
One other thought - Mike and I are going to make sure it goes to a publicly funded organization so that the chance of a place having to "dump" stuff is less likely. Libraries of any type are always likely to have private but also federal funding.
Other ideas?

A question came up on one of my other lists and I
thought I would ask your input as well. A lady has done
research for 30 years and is now going blind and feels
that she must quit. Her children have no interest in
genealogy; one line has already been published in a
book (by her or someone else), another is a brick wall.
Sooner or later, we are all going to have to decide
what to do with all of our research after we die or can
no longer continue it, for whatever reason. The logical
solution is to donate it to a library, but for most of
us, there is an awful lot of material and what
libraries can handle it all? I have 3 filing cabinets,
plus many 3 ring binders, floppies, zip disks, and cds
and boxes and piles of notes. Is there any one place
that would gladly take it all? And what happens after
they get it? Do they spend the time and effort to sort
through it all, or do they shove it in a back room
somewhere and forget about it? Any suggestions?
List Mom Barb
GOOD QUESTION
what to do with our files????????????
what do you think
have any ideas?
Ed:
You may want to obtain a copy of his death certificate in addition to
getting his obit. From the Muncie Library as Shirley suggested.
For the death certificate write to:
Delaware Co... Health Dept.
Delaware Co. Bldg. Rm 207
Muncie Indiana 47305
Include his name, Date of death, Dec., 1963, S.A.S.E.
They will accept personal checks. The fee is $5.00 and it takes about 2 weeks
to receive it.
You may also want to check the 1900 Census looking for Carney's with a
son George. This should give you the parents names and any siblings.
Good Luck,
Jan in Port Charlotte, FL.
Or a dollar or two spent on "flowers" from Wal-Mart....that's all it takes. There are graves near my family members' graves that I never see anyone visit and never see flowers on them. Why not?

For those of you who are visiting the cemeteries and graves of your
loved ones, your ancestors this weekend and have a few extra flowers,
think of placing them on one of the lonely graves which are never
visited. Or, if you are living in an area where you have no one,
think of visiting a cemetery and placing flowers by one of these lonely
graves.
I live in Logan Utah and tomorrow I will be visiting several local
cemeteries and will be placing flowers on graves. Over the past years I
have adopted these graves, these people and I hope that someone out
there is doing the same for my loved ones.
This is the day to remember those who came before us, who forged the

Hello,
Thanks everyone for your reply. I have looked at George being a possible son
of Aaron, but the ages per the census put them about 10 years off. If I have
George the son of Aaron pegged down.. He married a Susan ( Susannah)..
All the information I have about the family history is from a relative, who
never really knew this side of her family.Who said someone in the family had
once researched this many years ago. But my side of family does not have the
research that was done.. I am hoping they documented themselves <grin> but I am
missing it somewhere. It is probably starring me right in the face and I
havent figured it out yet <grin>
Thanks to everyone who responded. I really appreciate your help.

I forgot to mention in my reply that there is another Meeker-Luick
connection: Anna Luick (Catherine's sister) married Henry Meeker on
April 01, 1855 in Delaware County. That still doesn't get you a
connection to the Moore's, but it helps explain some of the cemetery,
which is quite small. John Luick (also buried in the cemetery
1832-1890) had a wife named Mary, whose maiden name I don't know.
Perhaps there is a Moore connection there.
