In going through some city directories and newspapers, I've discovered some mortuaries that were previously unknown, at least to me. I had been told by an employee of Meeks that Piephos was the only other mortuary in Muncie. In fact, I had been told by a mortician in Yorktown that Meeks was the only mortuary in the entire area until the 1930s. I've since discovered others of course. If you are aware of any of these or others and know who has the records now, please post that info on the list.

The library obit file has more of Muncie residents then those who lived
out in the townships. Find your death date then look to see if there is
an obit. Most of my families were not in the file but did have
something in the microfilmed papers. Lois

Hi Karen,
I was just in Delaware Co. to do research, so I know there are no obits.
(It
is a nice file.) I may have to resort to getting the death certificates.
Thanks for responding. Yours, Kathleen Rizer

I am Robert's 1st cousin 5 times removed.
Clara J. Hayhurst was born 15 Sep 1861 in Marion Co. W. Virginia, the dau. of Orlando Hayhurst and Dorcas Constable. She married the widower Robert Gibson, 11 May 1895 in Marion Co. But he was from Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana and they there to live. Both are buried in Rees Cemetery, Perry twp, Delaware Co, Indiana BUT their tombstones have no death dates. Does any one know when they died. They are both in the 1920m census, but not in 1930. Thank you, Kathleen Rizer
Do you know who the Jane Stewart you show was married too?
I have a Jane Stewart that married Joseph Stradling. Is this the same
Jane?

The family is then found in the 1920 and 1930 Stoney Creek, Randolph co, Ind. Can anyone help with death dates and location for Mina Boyd Rains and Otto E. Rains? Am hoping someone can help me, as I live out of state. I'm trying to locate a
copy of my ggrandmother of my ggrandmother Vera F. Cooper's obituary. I know
that she was born in Henry County in October of 1890, and that she died in
1959 ( sorry, I don't have exact date). I also know that she is buried in
Elmwood Cemetary next to her son Darrell ( my great Uncle) and his wife
Petty. I would appreciate any help and am willing to reimburse any cost.
Thankyou,
Jill Cooper Childress
My grandmother was Ethel Irene Reeves Conner b: Wexford, MI 1/31/1895 d:
Dayton OH 6/29/969. She was the daughter of Winfield Reeves b: 7/2/1868 Wells
County, IN d: 12/31/1940 in Muncie, IN and Arvilla Reynolds b: 2/1/1874 IN d:
11/3/1925 in Muncie. Winfield's father was Dennis Reeves b: 4/23/1827 IN d:
8/12/1909 Adams County.
Ethel's siblings were:
Floyd Reeves b: 1894
Wilbur Reeves b: 1899
Orla Reeves b: 1903
Howard Reeves
Virgil Reeves
LaMorane Reeves
She had a half sister Hazel.
Ethel's husband, Charles George Conner, lived in Muncie for much of his
younger years. He was the son of Amos Conner and Louisa Blotner Conner. His
brother, Chalmer, lived a long while in Muncie.
I have not been able to find a record of the marriage of Charles and Ethel; I
am presuming it was late 1913 or early 1914 by the birth date of their first
son. My mother seems to remember they might have been married in Winchester,
but she cannot recall why she thinks that. (Could be because she is near
80!).
Anyway, the Reeves have been giving me a fit.
I did get Dennis's death certificate, but his mother was listed as unknown
born in Maryland and his father James Reeves born in Maryland.
The age of Elijah Reeves (b: 1820) of course interests me. Perhaps my Dennis
and your Elijah are siblings?
Would like to exchange anything you might have that would put me on this
family line!
Thanks much, and stay out of the snow!
