Rick,
Muncie Public Library has an online court records site. They'll be years scanning and placing all the court records online but some are there now. I looked and didn't see anything for a Garrett newer than 1947 but you should go look yourself:
http://www.munpl.org/Main_Pages/documents.htm
I'm going to forward your note to the head of the genealogy dept at the MPL to see if she has a suggestion.

Subject: [INDELAWA-L] Seeking info on Delaware County Murder and Trial
Hi, all..........
The info I have is VERY sketchy........I wonder if anyone might be able to
help me? I'm looking for any info....on a murder that happened in Delaware
County, Indiana, I *think* in the mid 1950s.
It was wife who shot and killed her husband, last name was Edwards. That's
really about all the information I have.
Those were my grandparents. I was adopted as an infant, and have had some
limited contact with my biological family, but they won't give me any
information on my Gparents.......I'd just like to see what I can find
out......
Any help is most appreciated! I realize this is very sketchy, but I'm not
sure where else to find the info!
Thanks

Hi Rick,
I went ahead and did a quick peek, your story got my curiosity going,
I found a Clara Edwards being charged with 2nd degree murder for shooting
and killing a Moyne Edwards, on April 2, 1943. The court documents are dated
July 1943. It doesn't say he is her husband, just that she shot him with a
shot gun and that he died, and that it wasn't premeditated, the jury found
her Not Guilty. could this be who you are looking for?

Hello Rick
Have you tried the Muncie Public library site for old court documents? you
can do a search on the name Edwards. I am not sure if they have any for that
date range yet or not, I have found stuff in the 30's . May be worth a try.

Shirley,
It is great to learn more history about the county. It really puts a
"face" on it.
I live in California and do not always hear about these discoveries in
other states.
Thanks for keeping us all informed.

Mary Lu,
You're quite welcome and I hope some others take your recommendation.
Now I have yet another one to recommend:
The Iron Brigade by Alan T. Nolan. He starts our telling how the Iron Brigade was formed, where and what their trip to DC was like. From there it's pretty much a blow by blow account of their campaigns through the Civil War. He has a lot of the human condition in there so it pretty much puts you right there. I'm still reading it and am amazed at how much detail he was able to put together.

If you have an ancestor who served in the Civil War with the 19th Indiana, K or E Company of Delaware County, IN, you will want to read the above book. Craig does a GREAT job in describing what these soldiers went through to preserve the Union. I wish I knew how to personally thank him.
The book not only includes a list of those who served in these companies, but is also indexed and tells about may of their personal experiences - taken from diaries that he located while doing his research
Shirley, thank you for this recommended reading.

Pat,
Josephine is the one I asked about. She was married to a Paul Hartley or Hartly. They were both teachers in Muncie and later in life, moved to St Louis. We used to go visit them when I was in high school. I just thought I would share a little something with anyone who could claim them and see if there were buried in St Louis or back here in Muncie. I don't know if they had kids.
Maybe she is related to your Clevengers?
Have you had enough rain for while?
