Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Gina,
You're not ditzy. We'll call it a typo. *grin*
Precincts involved might be: 85, 27, 24, 6
They're all right together in that area.
Now, I'm curious as to whether the college or something else has take it over. Have to drive over there and peek but not tonight. LOL
Virginia's great. I'm just learning.

I will admit I am ditzy, so any help will be greatly appreciated. So if you
can tell me the precinct numbers maybe I will get lucky.
Thanks for helping me Shirley, you and Virginia are great, I watch you two
go at it trying to help people every day.

Thanks Shirley,
His being killed on the train would explain why Christina did not apply for
a widow's pension. There was nothing on the pension index card except his
name, company, and date of application. The attorney/ies will most likely
show up in the actual files.

Yes I live in Muncie, but I can't find Dick St on the 1910 census, I found
Dill, I am looking in Mt. Pleasant Township now to see if they meet up with
Normal City census records, I am beginning to think it was left out, I don't
know what district would be between Normal City and Mt Pleasant. I have
looked through almost all of them.

Virginia and Mary Lu,
We just found the answer. Apparently my grt grandfather was carried away on a stretcher thinking Ribble was dead. Miraculously, Andrew Ribble lived and returned to Muncie. Not too much later, he was working on top of a freight car and was killed instantly by a low bridge hitting him while he worked. Sounds like Andrew Ribble had terrible luck. Not many lived through those chest wounds.

Hi Shirley,
As you can see by the footnotes, this Andrew was wounded at Antietem and was
discharged because of wounds. He didn't die until 1865, and I imagine it
was due to his disabilities from the war wounds. The Civil War Pension
Index shows only one Andrew Ribble, Co K 19th Ind Inf. (this is Andrew N
Ribble). He applied for invalid pension on Jan 30, 1863 and rec'd pension
via certificate 11.943. All I know is based on his service records. :-)
And yes, the 19th was called the Iron Men. The 19th suffered terrible
mortality rates, but kept on going.
Virginia
> There was supposedly an Andrew Ribble who died at Antietem. Do you know
what his cause of death was (age 21?) and did he come home after injuries at
Antietem?

grandfather's accounts. In it he tells of being beside Andrew at his death,
tells about his wounds and his last words to him.

knowledge, is not ours but thought this would make interesting note and
information for his family tree.

discharged because of wounds.

If you can help, become a volunteer!!!
Thank you, Kelly
the year 1910 it was 611 North dick street Normal city, I can't find it on
the census images though, I looked through the one for Normal city but no
Dick street, I know Dick is close to Dill street now, and figured it was
then also. But I don't know what ward or precinct to look in now.

There was supposedly an Andrew Ribble who died at Antietem. Do you know what his cause of death was (age 21?) and did he come home after injuries at Antietem?
There is a book called Iron Men, Iron Will that included several of my grt grandfather's accounts. In it he tells of being beside Andrew at his death, tells about his wounds and his last words to him.
Are you familiar with the book? We're confused now. Andrew, to my knowledge, is not ours but thought this would make interesting note and information for his family tree.

Thanks Shirley,
His being killed on the train would explain why Christina did not apply for
a widow's pension. There was nothing on the pension index card except his
name, company, and date of application. The attorney/ies will most likely
show up in the actual files.
Virginia
> Would be interesting to know who represented him for his pension. My grt
grandfather, Robert I. Patterson, and his son, Earl, were both pension
attorneys but not sure if Robert was practicing in that specialty that soon
after the war. Maybe Mary Lu has the answer.

Thanks for the help, I found them last night on the 1910 census for Muncie,
I still haven't found how they are related but they did live close to my
Brown and Harmon families. Does anyone know what district Dick Street would
be in, on the 1910 census or what precinct? I have been looking through the
different ones for Muncie and can't find that street. It should be by Normal

Margaret,
Where did you get this information on Thompson? Do you have the date, who the estate was for, etc.? He was my gg-grandfather! Would love to have copies of whatever this is, if I can find it!!
Sincerely,
Marilyn Barber

If you don't have any luck in Delaware Co., IN, you might check the adjoining
county of Grant for the surnames. I know nothing about these families except
that my grandmother b. 1886 had a brother who married a Haisley and a sister
who married a Harmon in Grant Co.

Gina,
The metallic look you talk about tells me a little. Can you scan and email it to me.
I show several Haisley's but only up until 1919-20. Then none...anywhere in the area.
If you have any addresses of your Applegates, it might help. Maybe they lived with or nearby. I had an Applegate living with my Dickersons at one point...supposedly a stepson or something.

The photo is old, I'm thinking the 1920-30's The family album belonged to my
great grandmother Pearl Mariah Brown Harmon, her mother was Mary Alice
Applegate, her father was John W. Brown. Victor Haisley is supposed to be
related to Pearl and her half brother Albert Applegate, Albert was married
to a Hattie Hodge. I just started working on this line, and Albert and his
family are turning out to be a bit difficult to trace. I was just trying to
find something out able them. The photo may be older it almost looks
metallic. I am not sure how you date photos and unfortunately none of the
photos have any info on the back.
Does this help any or can I email the photo to someone to see if they can
figure out a date frame?
