This is my first e-mail to Delware Co, IN. I am researching my family and
would like help from anyone out there. I moved from Muncie in 1957.
Family I am researching:
STATOM, RUSSELL, SATTERFIELD, PANKEY, PAUL
Thank You, JoAnn Russell Statom
Hi
Seeking attitional information on the Indiana McClain family.
Especially the decendents and ancestors of Archibald McClain b.08 Feb
1771 PA and his wife Rhoda (Dewey)McClain b.20 Aug 1778 also in PA. They
lived for awhile in Wayne County IN before moving to Delaware Co. IN in
the late 1840s. They both died there and buried in the Ashenfelter
Cemetery, Union Township. Archibald died on 05 Apr 1851 and Rhoda died
on 02 Sep 1853.
I believe that Archibald's father was John McClain out of Ohio
Co. VA/WV but I cannot prove that fact.
Archibald and Rhoda had 12 children, one of whom was Jane
McClain (spelled McLane on the marriage certificate)married my 3rd great
grandfather David LYKINS (spelled Lykings on the marriage records) in
Wayne Co. IN on 13 Jun 1838. David died on 04 Apr 1883 and is buried at
the Tomlinson Cemetery, Delaware Co. IN and we have no idea what
happened to Jane. The last record of her was in 1893 where she is listed
in the Muncie City directory as living with her son Andrew...she is
listed there as Mrs. Jane Lykins.
Most of the McClain children, like Jane moved into Delaware Co.
and died there with their various spouses.
Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated...I am willing to
share what I have.

Hello,
I have been getting alot of email on the Cemetery link on the
Delaware Co website. The cemetery database belongs to Damon
Floyd and it appears he is out of town or something, and i have no
control over that area. On his website.............
< http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~damon/ > the link to the
cemetery has also been removed, so there must be a reason. Please be
patient and give it a couple days to see if the link returns.
Thanks Kelly

Nathan and Roseanna Smith settled in Morgan County, OH, where he died in 1827. Later Roseanna and several of her children moved to Delaware County, IN.
Roseanna died in Delaware County, IN, on Augsut 2, 1860.
I understand that there are no death certificates for that long ago. How about an obituary? Would there have been an obituary for her in the Muncie newspaper or was that too early for that too?
The problem is - as I collect my family history, I have seen her maiden name listed is Bruster/Brewster, Foster, and Deming. How do I go about proving which one is correct?

Thank you Anita!
I found it. I never thought to do that...

I can call the Muncie Newspaper and see if they still have a copy of it,
or check at the library Monday if you still need this obit. Let me know if
you want me to try.
