Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I just want to share a success story with the list. (Drum roll, please.) As some of you may know, I've been searching for the identity of my gg grandmother. Armed with only one photo of her as an older woman, a story that followed her and came down through the generations, an intentionally covered identity and trail created when she was a young woman, and a lot of our fearless leader's help (That would be Kelly), I've finally confirmed who she was.
She was Mary Jane Stewart, also known as Polly.
I just want to reiterate that I couldn't have done this without a lot of patience and digging on Kelly's part. She's a champ!
Now, then, I must go find where Mary Jane is buried. Oh, Kellllly......
Gratefully,
Shirley
The cemetery is located about 1/2 mi. s. of the Grant County line and about
3/4 mi. ne of the hamlet of Wheeling on the north side of the Mississinawa
River. Who are you looking for? ~ Lou
Could someone tell me what town or city Elizabethtown Cemetery is in or near? I believe it's in Washington Twp, which seems to border Grant County from the township map.
Thanks!
Anisah :)

Thank a veteran today. Since we all, at some point, research our family members who've served in the armed forces in one way or another, I think it's safe to say on the list:
Thank God for our veterans, past and present!

Greetings,
I have a one marriage record that I need to get. Can some one tell me the best or correct place to write. I have the address of the courthouse, but if there is a society in Delaware Co I would like to help support them.
Thank you for your time and help.

If they lived in the asylum during a census year, they should be listed on the census .
That's how I found one of my ancestors in Randolph County in 1870.

That's what I'm trying to find out. Other counties did keep records and
some have been posted on the Internet. It would be a tremendous help if
I could find the records for Delaware CO.

I did a web search and found a post card:
http://www.poorhousestory.com/IN_DelawareCIpc.htm
It's labeled: "Caption: Delaware County Infirmary, Muncie, Ind."
I'm still looking for more info.

Can anyone tell me about the insane asylum that was near Muncie in 1870?
Does anyone know what happened to their records? I had an ancestor
(Benjamin Drake) who was there on the 1870 census. Any information would
be appreciated.

Hello,
I wanted to share this email (permission from Marilyn Barber) with those
others out there that also have ancestors that are buried in the Sharp
Cemetery. This is very disturbing. I have contacted the Muncie Starpress
in hopes that we can get the word out on this horrible situation. I am
just heartbroken that someone could be so heartless as to destroy our
family history and disturb the resting place of our dear ancestors. (see
message below).........
Kelly
Kelly,
Forgot to mention, I made a trip up to Sharp cemetery a couple weeks ago
and its terrible now!! Someone has really vandalized it! Makes me
sooooo sick! Now I'll never get decent pictures of the stones there!
Your Losh stones were hit also. The fence around some of them was
almost torn down and most of the stones overturned or broken. Looks like
they tried to throw one of the stones through Edward Sharp's metal
monument. Partially destroyed his nameplate and they knocked out
completely the other 3 on the monument.
OOOOH, I'm mad! Most of the people buried there were the pioneers of
Salem Twp!! Don't know where all the 300+ stones are now that are listed
there. I saw some of them down the hill, but have no idea where they all
are!

Thank you for letting us know about DCHS. I would appreciate it if
you would let us know what happens and what the email address will be. I am a
member and have had no communication from anyone about the situation.
Thanks,
