I have 2 books of The Micheners in America if anyone needs information
from them. There is a 3rd book out now, but is sold out as far as I know.
We are invited to the Michener-Worthington reunion in Bucks Co, PA every
year, but haven't been able to make it yet! Someday!

Yes, I would love to have a copy of Robert G!
He is a grandson of my William Stradling, born 1894 and married to Ida
Wills.
His parents were DeWitt Clinton Stradling (no, I'm not kidding!), born
1854 in Bucks Co, Pa and Lucy Madeline Williams. There was a lot of this kind
of naming in this family!
Robert G had a son named Robert Gene. That is all I have on Robert G.

I noticed the name Michenor in the will of John Fisher, 1756, BucksCoPA. If
anyone is researching the Michenor surname, the following might be of
interest. The following are NOT my family.

ch. Warner & Erval Michenor
2. Cora Michenor m. Taylor Sargent
ch. Ernest & William
The 4 gr. grsons of Simon Conn are pictured with him in his obit.
Probably more could be found in Beech Grove records.
Taylor & Cora (Michenor) Sargent are bur. at Beech Grove Cem. I remember
Cora Sargent who died in 1959 at the age of 90. She lived on McGalliard in
Muncie where Red Lobster is now, and her son, Ernie, lived across the street.
Ernie and his wife, Emily Jones, had no children, but they had a foster dau,
Mary Binegar, an orphan, whom they took in when she was about 14-15. She
cared for them the last 25-30 years of their old age. Ernie had a genealogy
on the MICHENERS IN AMERICA.
That's all folks. Happy hunting.

Is there anyone out there who is a descendant of Simon Conn?

Marilyn & Sara,
I have a American Legion Yearbook for 1936 for a State Convention that
was held in Muncie, and it has a picture of a Robert G Stradling (Sons of
Legion). Any kin to either of you? I will scan the picture if either of you
want it....... Also, is anyone interested in me adding the Roster for the
Delaware Post 19 in Muncie to the county page? There are a good three or four
hundred members listed.

Hi Marilyn,
Sorry to hear about your disability. I can understand what you mean, as
travel certainly does cost a lot of money these days.
I do have Family Tree Maker, so any way you want to send your file would be
fine with me. I don't have documentation for all of my info either.
Not to worry!
Take care, and have a nice Thanksgiving!
Best regards,
Sarah

Yes Kelly I have seen the Bowen information, but I believe he doesn't
mention anyone of Thomas' family but the one daughter of the family. Seems
to say she was an only child.
Marilyn
Marilyn,
The closest my ancestors were to Bucks Co, Pa was in Montgomery and Chester
Counties. Those are my RAMBO / NORTH / McELHANEY and EVANS lines. All in all most
of my ancestors came from out of Beaver & Westmoreland Co.
Have you seen the book..."Kin of Mellcene Thurman SMITH"? There's a section
in the book about the "Descent of Richard BOWEN from the Stradling family of St
Donat's Through his mother, Eleanor GRIFFITH". I didn't know if there was any
info that would be helpful on your STRADLINGS or not, but it does give alot of
info on the STRADLING name.
Kelly
Sarah,
I never got to Bucks County this summer for the reunion. I just applied
for Disability and am only working part-time now.
I live with my mother who is on Soc Sec, so my funds wouldn't allow it
this year. Maybe if I put some away at a time I can make the trip next
summer! When I checked on the airline cost, it was around $400 roundtrip!
Sure sounds steep just to get to PA. I could get to Las Vegas or Florida a
lot cheaper! Still would love to go and spend a few days driving through the
Quaker countryside, as many of the meeting houses and farms are still there!
Amazing they still exist from the 1700's!
Do you have Family Tree Maker or can you read Gedcom files? I can attach
my Stradling line to an e'mail. Otherwise, I can create a report and send it
to you via e'mail. Let me know which way you would like the Stradling line.
A lot hasn't been documented and I am still working on it, but there is still
a lot there!

Hello Cuz Kelly,
Yes, the will you found is my William Stradling's, of Bucks Co, PA to
Delaware Co., great-granduncle. This Thomas Stradling was married to
Elizabeth Scarborough.
I'm still trying to find where this Thomas's father Thomas came to
America from England or Wales. It is the info I am looking for to connect us
with the Stradlings of St. Donat's Castle in Glamorgan, Wales. Supposedly,
Thomas was 'lost at sea' around 1709, but we cannot find any information on
the ship he was on or where or when he arrived in US. He married Lydia Doane
in Bucks Co, PA in 1715.
Do you have any ancestors from Bucks Co, Kelly? The Stradlings were VERY
Quaker and continued into Indiana, although I have found very few Quaker
records on them in Delaware County.
Sincerely,
Marilyn
Looking for further information on the Stradling families of Delaware
County.
Would love to share information I have on these families!
Sincerely,
Marilyn Barber

List,
Some time ago I sent to the Dept of Veterans Affairs looking for my gggrandfather's place of burial. I had loads of good information for the Dept but they were unable to tell me where he's buried. This is probably due to the fact that he died at the end of the Civil War in a military hospital and there were some mass burials. In other cases, there were moved burials where no one kept records at the new site. There could be many reasons however, I recieved another communication from the Dept with bits of helpful information. I'll quote their letter so there won't be any misinterpretation on my part. I hope it helps some of you:
"Our services in the area of burial and military service information research are limited. We can only tell you if the individual is buried in a VA national cemetery and where. If a record is found, we will give you a copy of that record with the name of the cemetery to contact if you need further information about the gravesite or location. We have no information on private cemeteries or cemeteries under the jurisdiction of other federal agencies."
"To continue your research, you may contact the following address(es):
National Archives, Reference Branch #1, 700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20408 - (see if a Government headstone or marker was provided.)"
"Other: If a Government-provided headstone or marker was ordered for the veteran you are seeking you may request a copy of the application. Records of headstones and markers dating for 1775 through 1985 are in the cutody of the National Archives. These records are maintained by the year of death or the year the headstone or marker was ordered. Please contact the address checked above."
"We regret we could not provide a more positive response."
I'm forwarding this to the Madison & Delaware Co lists as there may be
something helpful to researchers of these surnames. Lou in Indiana

There was an intermarriage between one of the most important Felicity and
Lewis Twnsp,Brown Co German's [Bolender's and in-laws Shinkles, and the most
important in the Milford,Clermont-Hamilton Co, Christian Waldschmidt.. The
latter d 1814,but his stone house on RT 126 survivies where his mills drew a
settlement of ermans, that spread into Goshen and Miami Twnsp's, if not sw
Warren Co.
Waldschmidt's 1st wife was a Bolender, and his father, Rev Waldschmidt's
church records of the Reading, Pa-Lebanon, Pa, Heidleberg, Pa region survive,
in print, and perhaps on-line. Wm Penn recruited Germans for his colony of
Pa. Counties like
Lancaster, Lebanon, and Berks were-are largley German in many neighborhoods.
1729 Pa [?] Pa started keeping ships rosters of in-coming German's, and they
are on-line. German churches often kept far better records than English. And
many survive, in-part on-line. There is a Brushy Valley in Centre Co,mid Pa
where many migrating to Clermont spent a few years. Don't waste much time on
that 5-15 years, unless you need something. Penn State U area of mid Pa.
German's are more likely found where the land has hills. Watch for multiple
spellings Polender=Bolender=Bolander,
Vogelen=Vogelei=Fagaly=Fagley Schenkel= Shinkle This makes using
search engines harder, but not impossible, even rootsweb.

Hi Sharon -
I've posted once on the White genforum and i
corresponded with a Darlene White, very briefly, who
also descends from John D. I'll go back and check
again for others. Do you know if Hannah's surname is
McDaniels or McDonald? Or, where in PA John might be
from?
Thanks for the advice - i may be re-contacting you!

Hello list,
Wondering if any one can help. I am looking for Mary and Martin WOOD.
They had a daughter named Verna Mae, b. October 20, 1882, who married Herbert
Dunkin.
I have a photo of Mary and Martin WOOD taken at the Goodlander Studios
in Muncie. No idea of the date.
Katie
Elaine,
Have you been to the White genforum???? There is quite a lot

John W. White , born abt 1791 in PA married Hannah
McDaniels(or McDonald) who was born about 1792 in
either VA or PA.
John and Hannah lived for a short time in Butler Co,
Ohio, then moved, abt 1817, to Indiana. In the 1850
Delaware County Indiana Census, John is 60, Hannah is
58 and one one child is still living with them -
Samuel Simpson, age 18.
John and Hannah had 10 children. I have been able to
identify 6: Thomas N., Abigail, John D, Issac G.,
Hannah Jane, & Samuel Simpson.
Does anyone know the parentage of John (or even his
wife Hannah?). Can anyone identify their other four
children?
I descend from Samuel Simpson. I'd be happy to share
all that I have!
