I believe Middletown is Henry County, HOWEVER, my ancestors had a Middletown
address, but lived in Delaware County. The Delaware - Henry Co. line is
just about a mile or so north of town.

Christine:
Does the yearbook have an index or how are the people listed? I would
love it if you would check on my dad who would have graduated in 1913 or 14
(if he graduated). He died when I was 16 and I only lived with him til I
was 8 years old, so I really don't know to much about him. His name was
Montrose Williams JETMORE. He also had a sister, Beatrice V. JETMORE, who
was 3 years older than my dad. Thank you so much for taking the time to do
this for the list. It is greatly appreciated.
Sandi JETMORE Rine
Christine,
You are correct. Anderson city limits now are on (Middletown's side of
Interstate 69). It comes up to if your going out 236 towards Anderson
(through the s cruve at Mechanicsburg Rd) just past that a little ways is
the first road you can turn left on. Just past that road is now the Anderson
/ Middletown city limits. Out on US 36 just past Mechanicsburg cemetery is
the limits now. Going out the main road of Middletown to hwy 67 (towards
Daleville) the city limits for Delaware County come clear up to now the last
house on the left before you go out of town. So it's rather amazing how the
roads and limits have changed. I grew up in Muncie and I'm amazed everytime
I go in how much things have changed. But I thought it was nice for me to
here about Middletown. Cause 38 years ago I wasn't thought of yet.
(smiling). I'm almost 35 years old. So this is nice to know.
Thanks
Donata

Robert Watkins, b 1812 Wayne Co., IN m. Mary Gordon 1832 Delaware Co., IN.
The 1830 Census shows a John Gordon "next door" to Robert Gordon in Mt Pleasant. The latter came to the Co. in 1819.
Page 290 Mt. Pleasant John Gordon Male(s) u5=1, 15-u20=1, 70-u80=1 Female(s) 60-u70=1

Would like to know if John is the father of Robert.
On the 1840 Census John is gone. Robert Gordon is is on the same page as Robert Watkins;
Page 276 [u=under] Robert Gordon Male(s) 15-u20=1, 50-u60=1 Female(s) u5=1, 5-u10=1, 10-u15=1, 40-u50=1. 50-u60=1, 60-u70=1
Robert Watkins Male(s) 5-u10=1, 20-u30=1 Female(s) u5=2, 5-u10=1 20-u30=1 owned land near Robert Gordon @ Mt. Pleasant. The latter came to the Co. in 1819.
The Watkins moved to Fremont Co., IA in 1842.
On the 1850 Census of Fremont Co., IA, Robert Gordon 60, PA and Delilah Gordon, 13 IN are living with Robert and Mary (Gordon) Watkins. Robert Gordon's wife may not have come to IA . She may be buried in a small cemetery that was part of the Robert Gordon farm and donated by him. It lies just north of Yorktown. Robert Gordon is not on the 1860 IA census and may have been buried in that cemetery. Would love to know and will pay to find out.
Robert Gordon was supposed to be m. to Mary Morris of Columbus,OH abt 1812. Would love to have proof of that.
The families Cummins, Davis, Roberts,Stewarts had married Gordons in Delaware Co, IN and moved to Fremont Co by 1850. [Note:There was a much older Rev. War Robert Watkins who came to Muncie in 1830 , but I have no evidence that the two Robert Watkins were related.]
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Have a fair amount to share on these families. Thanks, AJ
I just remembered that my 1962 Middletown year book lists the past graduates
from the year 1892 to 1962. We were the 70th class to graduate and the year
book is dedicated to Charles Frank Smith,
an 1892 graduate who was, I believe, still living in 1962. If anyone has
names for me to check for in the listing, I'll gladly do so.
I don't want to carry this thread on and on, but 38 years ago the city
limits of Anderson and the city limits of Middetown were not where they are
now. The two towns have grown much closer as Anderson has grown out toward
the interstate, and Middletown has grown toward Anderson. Raider Road, as
it is called now was, 37 years ago, simply the Middletown Road. If Muncie
had grown on the south side as it has on the north and west sides, it too
would be closer than 13 miles to Middletown, etc.

Hi Sandy:
I don't know if your CRAIG branch has any connection to the one mentioned
below?
Agnes Burke CRAIG of 1307 South Beacon St., Muncie, Delaware Co., IN (dau. of
William CRAIG who was b. in Scotland and Lady Agnes Burke "Anna" KELLEY who
was b. in County Cork, Ireland), b. 3 Jun 1849 in NY; m. 15 Jun or May(?)
1866 in Greenville, Darke Co., OH to John Wesley GOLENOR (GOLEANOR); she d. 3
Nov 1925 in Muncie; had a number of children
Lady Anne, above was of noble parentage and married a commoner, William
CRAIG, a miller. This "rash act" caused Lady Anne's family to disown her and
the young couple left immediately for America. They first settled on the
Hudson River in New York, but later moved to Greenville, Ohio. They had 3
children: Agnes, William and Jesse.
Laverne Galeener-Moore
Can some one tell me how to change my email to this list? I have tried to
change it several times and cannot seem to do it. Sorry to post it to the
list.

Lewis, sister to my g grandmother Lucy Ellen Lewis Summers, February 20, 1889
in Hamilton County. Any of these names familiar to you?

Donata,
I would appreciate your checking for Minnie Bowers Brown Johnson Byram in
Miller Cemetery. I've been told she died in 1946 or 1947, but I don't have an
exact date. Also she supposedly has a daughter buried there too, but I don't
have a name. There may be a Levi Johnson and Silas Byram buried there too.
These were her last two husbands, but I don't know where they are buried.
Thanks for your help.

It took Virginia to point it out to me that i had already added
your information on Alexander Campbell Dale to the biograghies
page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~indelawa/delawarebios_I.htm
I have been trying to do so many other things, that it slipped my mind that i
had already added it. Sorry!

Give me a list of the surnames and if they have a listing I'll copy them and
then scan it to the computer and send you via email. (Give me a couple of

Anita,
The Henry County Library located in Newcastle (Henry County) Indiana has a
substantial amount of info on the Henry County Area, as well as several
documented cemeteries.. It is true that Middletown Library gave their info to
the Historical Society... As it was on loan to them... I was at New Castle
abt 6 months ago.. Unless it has changed since that time..
Sincerly
Patti
Kelly I just sent you email from your site and it came back. I also had
sent you information about Alexander Campbell Dale of Delaware Co., IN and

about Mr. Dale and wanted to put his abstact of will in, but can not find a
