1860 in Delaware Co.

Hi
I've about given up on this....
My Greatgrandmother was Mary Belle SMITH...she married Davie B. LYKINS in
1883 in Delaware Co. IN. I have their marriage records. On her marriage
certificate and a note written by her mother giving permission (Mary was
under age) her mother's maiden name was listed as Susan SMITH. Now as the
family folklore goes, it seems that Susan married a man named John DEVINE,
(listed as Mary's father on her death certificate). Shorty after Mary was
born Susan and John were either divorced or whatever. My Great Aunts say
that she then took back her maiden name..thus Susan Smith.
Mary was supposed to have been born in White Co. but cannot find proof.
Does this fit into anyone's Delaware Co. SMITH, DEVINE, or LYKINS
families?????
Take care gang
Tom

Hi List,
Does anyone have the 1820 census for Delaware Co, IN? If so would you please
look up Thomas Hussey--028? And give the particulars.
Thanks, Donna
The Smiths I'm researching are from Wayne County Kentucky. I know my
grandfather moved to Deleware County Indiana in the 1900's but that's all I
know The Smith's you talk about could possible be related. Do you if there
was a Gregory, Columbus or James William Smith. I have a list of Columbus
children and James William maybe he was one of there kids or brothers.

Hi Everyone -
I ma searching for the parents and siblings of my Great Grandmother, Rebecca
Cunningham. She married Lemuel Franklin Eastes abt 1856/7.
In the 1850 Census for Van Buren Twp, Madison Co., IN shows Rebecca age 20
and Lemuel age 22. This would place Rebeccas birth abt 1840. Also the 1850
IN Census shows 2 more Rebecca Cunninghams in Hancock Co. - One in Green Twp
and one in Brown Twp
They had four sons and one daughter.
Jasper Newton Eastes b: 3 March 1858,
Charles Everett Eastes b: 18 June 1864
William Holman Eastes b: 7 May 1867
Anna Belle Eastes B; date unknown
Joseph Frank Eastes b: 9 May 1875
Rebecca Cunningham was killed in a tragic accident 26 December 1878. She was
thrown from a mud boat on the Bradford Pike northeast of Marion, Indiana in
Grant County. My grandfather, Joseph Frank was 3 1/2 years old
In July 1977 the headstones were missing from both Rebecca's and Lemuel's
graves in Tinkle Cemetery. However, I have a photo of Lemuels stone with
dates. Rebecca was buried next to him. I have been told recently that
Lemuels grave is now marked with a Military Stone.
When the Civil War began, Lemuel was enlisted by Capt. Alfred Kilgore at
Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana on 21 August 1861. He enlisted as a Private
for 3 years in the Army of the United States . On the same day he joined his
new unit and was assigned to Capt Hugh A. Stephens, Company B, 36th Regiment
of the Indiana Infantry Volunteers. At the time of enlistment he was 25
years old, light complexion and had blue eyes. He was married and had one
son, Jasper Newton.
Lemuel was given an Honorable Disability Discharge on 7 May 1863 at
Murfreesbrough, Tennessee. On his Discharge Certificate his home address was
given as Chesterfield, Indiana. Since Lemuel was an Honorably Discharged
Disabled Veteran, he was given a pension. The date of his death is confirmed
as being on 11 May 1903 and was last paid $17.00 on 4 May 1903. A Disability
Certificate dated 29 February 1888 shows his home in New Corner, Indiana,
(later know as Gaston) in Delaware County. The certificate further states
that due to illness contracted in Military Service he was now certified as
being totally unable to work at his occupation as a farmer and
blacksmith.Eastes Lemuel was a Master Mason and prominent in the G.A.R.
(Grand Army of the Republic) and was the Post Master at Landissville for
many years.
My grandfather was Joseph Frank Eastes born 9 May 1875. I have a photograph
of a teen age girl apparently taken before 1900. On the back in Joseph
Frank's handwriting is written the name Anna Belle Eastes, full sister. The
story that has been passed down through the family was that at the age of 17
she died under mysterious circumstances. According to the story, the family
had gone to town and on their return she was found dead. Joseph Frank said
that she was not the type to have committed suicide .No record can be found
of her birth or death but in the photograph she looks like Rebecca Cunningham
and Joseph Frank Eastes. It is assumed that Anna Belle was born between
William Holman (7 May 1867) and Joseph Frank (9 May 1875.)
I have no leads to the parents or siblings of this Rebecca Cunningham.
I would appreciate any information from Census Reports or any scape of
information.
Also any information on other Indiana Cunninghams about this time period or
other researchers in who might be able to help
Best Regards
Roy Eastes Gulfport, MS

To all Reed (by any spelling) Researchers,
My name is Nell Logue and I have a database of around 50,000 Reeds (by
any
spelling) and Kin. I am doing Look-ups for all interested researchers,
but I
need more Reed (by any spelling) information. Please submit your
information to
me to go in the Database. I would appreciate it very much and it will
help so
many other people. I am trying to get information from all over the USA
and
also foreign countries. After your information has been received and put
in the
Reed Database you may send in for Look-Ups on your Reeds (by any
spelling) that
perhaps someone else may have sent me.
Please send your information to me at Nelllogue(a)texoma.net
(Note the 3 'l's in the Nelll).
In the subject line please write Reed Information
If at all possible send your information in GEDCOM format, as I can
import it
right into the database. Text documents have to be typed in and take a
lot of
time. Your genealogy program manual will tell you how to export a
GEDCOM. Try
it. It is not difficult to do, but if, after your try it, you can not do
it,
then send your information any way you know how.
I am going to be taking a short rest period from the Look-Ups while
getting in
all of this new information and getting it in the Database. So when
everything
is ready to start the Look-Ups again I will put a message on the Reed
Genforum
at http://genforum.genealogy.com/reed/ and also on the Read Genforum at
http://genforum.genealogy.com/read/ and also on the Read List at
READ-L(a)Rootsweb.com <READ-L(a)rootsweb.com>. When you send in for a
Look-Up
please write Reed Look-Up in the subject line.
By the way, if you have books on Reeds (by any spelling) the information
from
those books would be great to go in the Database. They may contain the
one
ancestor that someone has been hunting.
I will be looking for your Reed information. Please help.
Nell
I am looking for the family information on Robert Ellis and wife, Cassandra
of Hamilton Township. This family was listed in the 1850 and 1860 Federal
Censuses in Delaware County. Robert was born about 1798 in Pennsylvania and
cassandra was born about 1810 in Virginia. Two of their children married to
the House siblings. William Ellis born about 1832, married Sarah Ellen House.
Margaret Ellis born about 1841 and married William House. It appeared both
Ellis siblings moved out of Indiana, where did they go? Thanks\

Hello,
I am looking for information on Clarence Marietta / Maritta, b. December
08, 1882 (don't know where). He married on October 27, 1923 in Delaware
Co, to Florence Wiley.
I have reason to believe that this Florence is actually Lucy Florence
Hammond.
Lucy was born May 27, 1880, and Florence was born May 27, 1882. The
first date i had on Lucy was actually May 27, 1882. On her funeral home
records it shows her name as being Lucy Wiley (Marietta). I am totally
clueless on this. I was told that Lucy was married five times, and i
have four of those marriages, and i think this may be the fifth one.
Any help on this would be appreciated!
Thank you, Kelly
