Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried this site before and another one
similar to it. In this case, it's a little too late for this to help my
search. It would be more like 1850 that the property was purchased and put
in her name. I'm gonna have to visit the township or county and search the
deeds records. Seems the DePew family (her people from Ohio) didn't care
for her choice of husband and thought she might need something in her own
name if he left her high and dry. This is all speculation but is certainly
suggested by the fact that hers is the only name on the deed even though she
was already married to Knisely. This is all second hand information from
another DePew family researcher. I want to see the ink on the paper myself
to believe it and would also like to know what happened to the property
ownership. Stories behind the facts are the most interesting.

The 1880 plat maps for DeKalb Co. can be found here:
http://www.historicmapworks.com/Atlas/US/9523/DeKalb+County+1880/
It's a commercial site and does not allow you to copy the images, but you
can click on and enlarge the thumbnails of each township/town for viewing.
I did not find any Kniselys in Wilmington Twp. or around Butler, but you
could check adjoining townships. Unfortunately, the county wide map is not
provided, so I do not know which townships bordered Wilmington Twp.
Ancestry may also have these maps (and more) but I no longer have a
subscription.
Were the merchants, "Knisely Brothers" in Butler, her relations?

County level folks are also great. Wish me luck on finding my great
grandmother Rachel DePew Knisely in Ohio 1850 records and/or DeKalb Co
land
records.

Sally, your idea paid off. Turns out that the Township trustee is a
friend of mine from back in high school and she was able to give me
exactly the info I needed and cleared up a long-standing mystery.

Have you checked with the township government? The township clerk may
be able to put you in touch with the sexton or cemetery board.

Just wondering if anyone on the list may know who would have the
interment records (if they exist) for the Krontz Cemetery located on
County Road 63 in Wilmington Township. I have quite a bit of evidence
pointing to my great great grandfather being buried there, but he is
not listed in the tombstone transcriptions that I have found for the
cemetery online. I am hoping that the interment records for the
cemetery may shed some light on the issue.
Thanks in advance!
