Subject: [INDEKALB] Charles & Florence Scholes Tustison
Hi Gary,
Thanks for getting back to me. I don't have a lot on Charles since I just
learned of him and my interest really is on the Scholes. My husband is the
2nd. great grand nephew to Nelson Scholes. I would really enjoy meeting with
you and discussing the family but I live in Colorado and do not see a visit
to Indiana in my future since my husband is going blind. Am sending what I
know about the Tustison and Scholes from DeKalb County.
Nelson Scholes married Mary Ann Swaidner 04 Sep 1852 in Ashland County
Ohio. Nelson died 09 Sep 1910 in Concord DeKalb County Indiana and burial is in
Alton cemetery. Nelson & Mary had six children all born in DeKalb County.
Emma I. Scholes born 1853 in Ohio died Oct 1919 St. Joe, DeKalb County and
burial in Alton cemetery. married Charles W. Abel 01 May 1873 in DeKalb
County.
Franklin W. Scholes married Susan I. Deitrick and they had a daughter
Nellie who married Robert Ulm and I know nothing about the Ulm family.
Florence Scholes married Charles A. Tustison 24 Aug 1880 in deKalb County
and they had two children:
Leo Tustison born Aug 1881 DeKalb and died 11 Mar 1974 in Defiance County
Ohio and he married Mae Hamilton 02 June 1909 in DeKalb. and they had a
son Keith.
Earling Tustison born 08 Nov 1885 in DeKalb and buried at NewVille, DeKalb
Co. Evergreen cemetery. and he married Hazel Whitehurst 02 Sep 1908 in
DeKalb.
Elder Joseph N. Scholes born indiana and died 1944 in St. Joe, DeKalb Co.
and burial in Alton cemetery. Joe married Lillian A. Akins. I can't find my
notes but I believe Joesph was a minister at the Methodist Church in
DeKalb. This needs to be researched farther.
Ida Scholes born June 1865 in DeKalb County and died 1942 in St. Joe Dekalb
County and burial in Alton cemetery. Married Willard William 23 Sep 1891
in DeKalb County.
Elida Scholes born 1868 in Indiana and died 1873 in St. Joe Dekalb county
and burial was in Alton cemetery.
This is all I know about Nelson Scholes family so if you have something
that would help I would love to hear it.When I locate my notes and what Church
Joseph was Elder of I plan to write and see if they have anything at on on
Joseph. Later.
