Roberta, Sorry to take so long to respond
Charles Amazon Tustison
Hi All,
I am new to the list and have been reading old post on the Archives and
wondering if Gary Tustison is still on the list? If you are would your family
be related to Florence Scholes and Charles Tustison? If so would you know
when they died and where they are buriedCharles and Flora are buried in the Alton Cemetery
on IN 101 just north of US 37? Also when did they marry1880? The
Scholes is the ones I am researching from DeKalb. Not sure yet when they moved
to DeKalb County but they came from Knox Co. Ohio(west of Morrow). If anyone is related to
the Scholes I would enjoy corresponding with them. Thanks to the list for
listening to me.

Roberta,
Here is what I have. I live in TN but we will be travelling to FT Wayne on August 18 and
will be visited relatives. Do you live near there? If so maybe we can at least meet face
to face and begin to clear up our common genealogy? Happy to help anyway I can.
Charles – born 06 Aug 1859 in DeKalb, IN, died 30 May 1934 in Defiance County, Ohio.. The
1860 Census shows Charles to be 9 months oldref83. He was born in Concord, DeKalb,
Indiana. Charles’ mother died 05Mar1878 and his father passed away 21Dec1878. Charles was
nineteen. He went to live with his Aunt Marie Tustison Dixon in Crawford County Ohio.
Charles married Flora A. Scholes (Jul 1858-??) in 1880(Keith). Flora was the daughter of
Nelson and Mary Swaidner Scholes.
There appears to be some connection between the Scholes (Mr & Mrs Frank- Flora’s
brother?), Ulms ( St Joe ,IN) and Scholes of Altoona (not sure if she was from Altoona OH
(SE of Chilicothe) or Altoona PA-could not find an Altoona, IN)(Now I cannot find this
reference article.
Charles and Flora had two sons. Charles is shown in Allen County in 1880 Census
He is shown in DeKalb in the 1900 Census.
In Feb 1916 we see that Mrs. Charles Tustison and Mrs. Hannah Ulm (was her son John E. who
married Minnie Tustison?(Nelson’s dau?) spent Monday with Mrs. Mary Scholes (Flora’s
Mom)Ref 233.
And again in March 1916 we see Mrs. Mary Scholes is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Charles
Tustison during the absence of another daughter, Mrs. Emma AbelRef 233.
In March 1917 we see where Mrs. Charles Tustison went to Auburn to see her sister Mrs.
Emma Abel who is quite ill. Mrs. Abel is at the home of her daughter Mrs. Gertrude
WoodcoxRef 233
In Jan 1918 we see Mrs. Mary Scholes (Flora’s Mom) spent the past three weeks with Mr. and
Mrs. Charles TustisonRef 233.
In August 1918 we see Mrs. Mary Scholes and Mrs. Emma Abel (Flora’s sister) entertained
Mrs. Joe Scholes of Johnstown, PA; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ulm (was their son John E. who
married Minnie Tustison?(Nelson’s dau?) of Butler; and Mr. and Mrs. Lee O.
TustisonRef233.
Charles and Flora are buried in the Alton Cemetery on IN 101 just north of US 37
Gary Tustison
