Hopefully, if my mom is up to it (recent surgery), we may be going to DeKalb
County this Friday to find more on her grandparents etc.
Does anyone know if/where Naturalization records from 1860-1884 are kept and
if there is an index?
The marriage and death indexes for DeKalb county dont list many of the people
that I KNOW were married and died there...any suggestions there? The birth
index....yeesh! That listed my GGgrandmother with 5 different
names...including listing her as 2 different surnames on TWINS, listed her as
Martha Bessie and Martha Bassie....and includes a third child born to her
that day as a Female...she had twin boys...not triplets of multiple sexes.
For one uncle they have his birth listed twice with no first name...just the
same date and what looks like different page numbers:
Lumm -- Henry Myrtle -- M W May 14 1902 20H-20 16
Lumm -- Henry Myrtle Bessa M W May 14 1902 H-4 26
Anyone know what those end numbers in the index are?? These weren't twins,
they were the same Walter Lumm.
Any suggestions on finding my LUMM, BASSA/BESSIE/BASSIE/BESSE/BESSA (told by
an uncle that the name was actually MASSEY) MOORE, LEOWES, DEVORE (all
DeKalb names) and suggestions on going there prepared on Friday...much much
appreciated.
Thank you
