Mike,
I can attest to the fact that both James and George served in the 44th
Indiana during the civil war. James claims birth in England and George in Bradford
Co., PA; both were shoemakers. (Although James originally gave his age at 45,
he was actually 55 and was discharged from Louisville Barraacks for partial
paralysis of right arm and old age--then listed as 52 on June 24, 1862. Both are
buried at Butler Cemetery. He filed Invalid Pension #198071 and George filed
#189171 (Nancy A. filed Widow's Pension #192414 May 14, 1879 and Nancy A.
Rummerl, guardian, filed Minor's Pension #204076 Sept. 3, 1882) in case you want to
obtain their pension records.
Sincerely,
Margaret Hobson

I am trying to decifer the link between the James Revett who arrived in De
Kalb County in 1845. I have seen him in the 1860 census and also in the latter
ones. There is a history of him at:
www.rootsweb.com/~indekalb/dcibp/dcbio/1885/revett-james.txt
I am trying to find the connecting family members between the '1806 James'
and a later born James Revett who was located in Toledo, Lucas Co, Ohio in
1904. There was a John Birchall who left Ellis Island (1904) to meet his
'cousin' James Revett at 1627 Main Street, Toledo. There also was a younger Henry
Birchall who, after Ellis Island, was going to meet his older brother John, who
was in Butler, De Kalb County then, in 1908. These are per the Ellis Island
manifests.
John Birchall's mother was a Mary Jane Rivett. She had an ancester John
Rivett also born abt 1811 in Kenninghall, Norfolk. Thus John and James must have
been brothers, with John staying in the UK and James leaving Norfolk for the
USA in 1824.
So, I am trying to find the intervening connections between the 1806 James
Revett and the James Revett who was in Toledo in 1904 (probably born around
1870-1880, of a decendent of the elder James).
Thanks
Mike
