Hi Claudia,
The only Cemetery I know of in Garrett, we always called "the Catholic
Cemetery." It is on Hampsher (yes that's how it's spelled) Street, on the
West edge
of Garrett. At the first stop light on Randolph St. - south of the Railroad
underpass- turn west on King Street. I think you go about 6 blocks to
Hampsher Street. Turn south, or left, and the cemetery is on the right or west side
of the street down several blocks.
On King Street there is a restaurant called the Railroad Inn that used to be
famous for their homemade pies - I haven't been there in a few years. I hope
they haven't lost their touch.
Christian Union Cem. is northwest of town, out in the country. Take Randolph
Street exactly one mile north of the center of town to State Road 8. Turn
left - west- and go one mile to Co. Road 7. Turn right - north - the cemetery
is visible from St. Rd. 8 and the old part of the cem is on the East side.
It's large and there are many roads to choose from in order to drive throught the
cem. Lots of my kin are buried there so I've
wandered through it and attended ceremonies there a number of times.
If you don't know where to look for the stone you want perhaps you should go
to the Willenar Genealogy Center in Auburn before you drive out, and look in
their Cemetery indexes to get an idea of where to look.
