Claudia,
Steve has given you good instructions on how to find the cemeteries. The Railroad Inn is
still in operation. I was there in December and while I didn't have the pie, the food
was good. Since you are staying in Auburn I will recommend Richards Restaurant. They
recently moved into a new building that is connected to a motel, Budget Inn I think. The
original restaurant was just torn down to make way for a CVS Pharmacy I believe so there
may be construction at the corner of 7th and Grandstaff. The address is 940 West 7th
Street (the main drag in Auburn) and the phone number is 260.925.0341 - the Broasted
Chicken is worth the trip and you get a good hearty Indiana breakfast there as well.
Steve's suggestion for you to stop at the Willennar Center is one I would strongly
recommend you follow before going to the cemeteries. You can find the link for the
Willennar on the DeKalb County INGenWeb Project web site. We list their address and hours
of operation as well. The Calvary cemetery has been transcribed and been placed on the
DeKalb County GenWeb site - just click on the link below. You will need to check on the
Christian Union cemetery at the Willennar Center.

Best of luck with your research and trip. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Subject: [INDEKALB-L] NEED DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO TWO DEKALB COUNTY CEMETERIES
Hello, fellow listers!
My reluctant teenage son and I are taking a two day trip up to Dekalb County
this coming Monday. The main reason for this visit is for me to find two
cemeteries and visit the small town of Garrett where my father was born and lived
until he was about five years old. I'm hoping someone can give me directions
from the main road in Garrett....I believe it's Randolph...to CALVARY CEMETERY,
which is supposed to be southwest of Garrett in Keyser Township. The other
cemetery I need directions to is CHRISTIAN UNION CEMETERY, which is supposed to
be in Garrett. Can anyone help me with this before I end up getting lost with a
complaining 17-year old co-pilot driver??? Also, would appreciate any advice
as to places to eat in and around Garrett. We're staying in Auburn since it
appears there are no hotels in Garrett proper.
Thanks in advance!
Claudia Pell-Salvatore
