Hi, Gwen
I just checked our records at the Courthouse. Did not find a death certificate for Mary
Woodcox; but did find in the Clerk's Office Probate Order Book F&G pages 123-129
it mentions the probate of a will (did not find a will, other than at this location) It
mentions a lot of good information. Also there are two pages i n the General Entry Docket
of Claims and Allowances Book 1 for expenses paid, etc.
In the Recorder's Office, Deed Book KK page 161 is the deed for the land to Byron
Wilcox, according to Mary's will. This deed mentions Order Book G page 524. Order
Book G (by itself) was lost most likely in the 1913 fire when the records were stored
while the new courthouse was being built.
James Lawrence was Executor of Mary's Will.
For the marriage license it is recorded; but shows only the name of bride, groom and date.
The applications for marriage for this time period are not available.
If you send for the above information, it will necessitate two letters. One to the
Clerk's Office and one to the Recorder's Office. Each page costs $1. Please
include a Business Size SASE.
Let us know if we can assist in any other way.

I am looking for information on Mary (Polly) Saylor Woodcox. She died in Dec, 1882, in St.
Joe, IN. Would there be a death record for her? Also, I found in the Auburn Courier, May
3, 1877, where Samual Widney married Mrs. Polly Woodcox, but I cannot find any further
information on this marriage. Any information anyone can give would be appreciated.
This is a wonderful site. Thank you for all your work.
