Hi all,
Well I survived my trek to Corunna :) First I'd like to thank all those
who gave me ideas on where to stop. I did make the Eckert Library in
Auburn. This was a kind of exploration trip so I'll be better prepared
for the BIG trip :) For those who have never been to Corunna the town is
small (don't blink or you'll miss it) :) If you have people buried in
Corunna Cemetery it isn't very big you can cover the whole thing in
about an hour if you don't have locations (like me). I'm sorry to say
that some of the older stone are in bad shape and it looks like some
have been vandalized (knocked over) but I was able to find my wife's
great grandparents and her gg-grandparents. I also found out that many
of the children of Lewis and Elizabeth (Luttman) Shaffer are buried
there as well.
If you are planning a trip to the cemetery it's easy to find it's off
Highway 327 about 1/4 mile south of county road 28. There are two ways
in if you miss the first one. Watch for traffic behind you because the
entrance is just over the crest of a hill (hate to get rear ended trying
to get into the cemetery).
Oh yeah if you want to do research in Auburn and someone comes with for
the ride like a spouse and kids have them drop you at the library and
send them to the Cord Museum located in Auburn. Great place they should
be busy there for a few hours ;) (one reason I had to cut my research
short) :))
Happy Hunting,
Steve
