You never will find out unless you ask. And I've asked a lot of odd qustions
and gotten some great answers! My family of Seelys came from Onondaga Co.,
N.Y., to the village of Orange, between Newville and St. Joe, back in 1842.
Amzi Seely built a mill on the St. Joe River, but later sold that and moved
to Newville. Amzi and his wife, Rhoda Weed Seely are buried in Newville.
His son William M. married Sarah Ellen Stager, born in 1835 in St Marys,
Auglaize Co., Oh. They are buried there too. Their son, my grandfather John
Seely, married my grandmother in Wooster, Oh., in 1918, and went to live in
Detroit. They later returned to Newville and after my grandfather's death in
1930, grandma moved back to Apple Creek, Oh., then to Orrville, Oh. where I
was raised. Both are buried at Newville. And I do have a cousin
Seely.....Seely Wilson Tardy who resides in Fla. She turned 100 in June.
She was born and raised in DeKalb Co. But there seemed to be other Seelys
that lived in the area. I just haven't persued them YET! I hope this helps
you some, you just never know when a name will strike a chord and open
another door. AND I also have Sidles in my ancestors, but that was with the
Swangers and Ketterings. There are quite a few Sidles and Sidels here in
Wayne Co. But I didn't find a Sarah Jane born in 1862. Her parents may not
have gotten a birth certificate for her, it wasn't that important for a
female back then.
Good Luck and if you need more information, I have quite a bit. I've been
doing genealogy for 28 years. Kaye Seely Franks
