Hello all,
I am trying to compile a family file on JOHNSON, etc. who arrived early
on in DeKalb Co. If anyone is researching the below names in DeKalb Co.
I would like to hear from you! I am using the most commonly found
spellings of names.
Abraham & Amariah JOHNSON who m. daughters [Mary & Jane respectively] of
Nathan WYATT & his wife Mary [an IGI says Pelkey but it looks less than
'primary']
William R. MOORE who m. Mary [I believe JOHNSON]. I do not know who his
parents were as yet. He is listed on the 1840 DeKalb census
James DRAGGO who m. Zeruah JOHNSON [James was b. Hayesville, OH s/o
Frederick DRAGGOO and Martha ANGEL]
I believe that all the Johnsons above were siblings and, based on the
1850 & 1860 census that their mother was Zeruah (----) Johnson b. NJ.
All of the above families either named a dau. Zeruah or had the elder
Zeruah Johnson living with them [in the case of Draggoo].
An IGI lists their births [agrees in ages on census] in Hayesville,
Ashland Co., Ohio and names their parents as Uriah & Zeruah (VANGILDER)
JOHNSON... a Uriah Johnson is buried in Hayesville along with some
Vangilders and a child [age 4y 7m] named on the IGI is also buried at
the same cemetery "Isaac s/o U. & Z. died 1821" so although I am unsure
of the source of the IGI material [Ashalnd Co., per se, did not exist at
the time of the births listed], but I do think that it is most probably
correct.
Among other things I am trying to determine if Abraham Johnson's wife
Mary WYATT was mother to all of his older children. Also, his 2nd wife
[on 1860 census] is named Rebecca (-----); was she mother to son Abraham
b. ca. 1857?
Thank you!
April
