Hi Claudia!
Either the address is incorrect, or there was a different numbering system
in 1910 (very possible!)
As long as I can remember (1970's) the numbers began at the 100 block of
north and south.
The 100 block of North Cowen St. (located between King and Quincy Streets)
has no houses, although I believe it did around the turn of the century
(1900)
as a large home was once located there of a prominent Doctor in the early
1900's. Today that site is the Garrett State Bank, since the 1970's.
There are other "older business buildings" in that block, but no homes.
The 100 block of South Cowen Street DOES have houses however. It is located
between King and Keyser Streets.

perhaps someone there can tell you which block is "Block 12"
Good Luck!

Subject: [INDEKALB-L] COULD SOMEONE TAKE A PICTURE IN GARRETT FOR ME???
Hello, fellow listers!
I am hoping someone might be able to help me with a picture of the house I
believe my father was born in in Garrett, IN. From what I can make out on
the 1910 Census, my grandparents lived on what appears to be North Cowen
Street, Block 12. It looks like the house number was 19 North Cowen
Street.
This would be the house where my father was actually born. Is there
anyone
who can take a picture of this house for me, either digital or
snapshot??
I'll gladly reimburse any expense.
Also, can someone tell me if it's possible to get a map of the city of
Garrett, and how to get it??
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!
Claudia Pell-Salvatore in Northern Kentucky
