Looking for the town in old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany where James Kruse b abt 1830
came from.
I found James Kruse and family in
Ancestry.com in the 1870 Census under the misspelled
last name of Gruse in Jackson Twp., De Kalb Co., IN with possible 2nd wife Caroline nee
Johnson, and children Minnie, Charles, William, Emma, (and Richard later in 1873), along
with what looks to be his mother as Sophia age 67. James, Caroline, Minne, and Sophia
showing from Mecklenburg Sweden but should be Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

It is possible they are related to the KRUSE and BARTELS of Dratow and Rumpshagen region
of old Mecklenburg-Schwerin. See this lineage at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~indekalb/gen/view/bartels-charles.txt
James Kruse b. abt 1830 had a son William who married Ricka Bartels in 1891. Then
William's son was Fred Jay Kruse who married Goldie. Their son Russell W. Kruse
married Luella Boger and resided in Auburn.
I have yet to find the family in the 1860 Census as they look to have immigrated about
1854-1860. So if anyone knows the town in old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, or the ship, that
would be great.
