Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Find an ancestor in the Index to "So Grows A City" ?
I will now be accepting Look Up requests.
Please be patient, as I may not be able to respond immediately,
but will get to your request, as soon as possible!
It may be hours, days, or weeks, depending on volume received. :o)
Please include your ancestors' name in the index, and the page number(s)
Please limit your request to less than five (5) names per email.
(You may send additional requests, by sending separate emails!)
You may send requests to me directly, or to the list (so they are archived)
If the name you are looking for does not appear in the index, it is not in the book, sorry!
I will continue to post the names, a few letters a day. Good Luck!

Thanks Sue,
We have talked before. I recently found a descendent of Clarissa's on the
Dragoo page at genforum. If you have not looked at it recently there are 5
lines now including yours of Frederick's children I have been communicating
with: Peter (mine), John, William, and Clarissa. I knew of Lydia of
course. Carol Van Sickle came to our Fetters reunion in Montague, by
Oceana County last July. She is from John Dragoo's line. She believes this
line is the one of Frederick's that used but one "g".
Peter and Nancy (Williams) Draggoo's daughter Sarah Jane is my GGgrandmother
who was married to Henry Fetters. I am still looking to find her grave in
Dekalb County, though it is likely under Rhodes or Briton, possibly O'neil.
She had also been McCue. All these men died before she did. I think it
was after 1890, but cannot find any given names save Emerson McCue, but he
is probably in Oceana or Newaygo counties, MI, her second husband.
Can I ask what you know of Zeruah Johnson. I keep running across this
name close to James Dragoo, and I think this is his wife's name as well. I
find it unusual, believe it is a bit rare, yet there it is often in the 1850
census of Concord. I believe they (Johnson) were in Ashland County, OH.
Dan

Anyone have access to the 1870 census? I need a look up for Jackson
Township or Concord for Dekalb County. George and Clarissa Reed may have
had son George Reed about 1865. The are in Concord Twp in 1850, in Jackson
in 1860.
Also looking for Margaret Jane Mcginnis born after 1860 to 1865. Believed
to be neighbors, these two married later. Clarissa was Draggoo, the
daughter of Frederick of Ashland County, Ohio born in 1821. She was sibling
to James, William, Peter, John and some 8 other children from Frederick's
marriage to Martha Angel.
Thanks,
Dan Fetters

Hi, List.
I dislike sending this kind of a message; but need
your assistance. If you have @home in your email
address for the INDEKALB mailing list it may be
bouncing. Some have resubscribed under a different
email address and if that is the case, would you mind
unsubscribing under the @home address.. You may be a
fortunate person and still receive your mail under
@home.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Dan,
Thank you for all the family info.
I will have to take my time looking it over. I have a question for you I
noticed a Lorena Luce in n your last e-mail. Do you have anything on the
Luce Family?
My Great Grandmother Maude Dragoo Shull married late in life in the 1950's
to a Harvy Luce? It is funny as My Mother Elizabeth lived with Maude for
awhile when she was a teenager and never knew about the 2nd marriage to
Harvey Luce until I found it in my search. No one else in our family seems
to know anything about it either.... odd From what I can tell it was only
for a few years.
Good to hear from you

URGENT REQUEST!:
Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of
the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many
variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood
etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you
have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared
with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for
our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to
updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the
line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost
only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address.
Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two
brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are
the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the
maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their
lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is
everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions.

Hi, List.
I dislike sending this kind of a message; but need
your assistance. If you have @home in your email
address for the INDEKALB mailing list it may be
bouncing. Some have resubscribed under a different
email address and if that is the case, would you mind
unsubscribing under the @home address.. You may be a
fortunate person and still receive your mail under
@home.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, my Seidel GrGrGrandfather is
the family's brick wall.
He was living in NYC in 1861,
married and baptizing my GrGrandpa.
We think he was from Bavaria.
Probably Catholic.
Probably born in the 1830's.
His middle name was Xaverius.
He named a daughter Rose or
Rosa and, then, Charles Martin,
my GrGrGrandpa.
Rose died as an infant.
The family story is that his
Catholic family disowned him
when he married a Lutheran
- my GrGrGrandmother Runft.
There is a Seidel List on
Rootsweb - and a Seidl list.
It sure would be worth your
asking there.....
Thanks for writing, the more
Seidel names, the better :-)
Donna
Hi All:
Some of my DeKalb ancestors (Henry and Marie Kline) moved from Stark Co., Ohio, but their families had previously come from Pennsylvania. These included Lehigh Co. and Burks Co. Maria's maiden name was Rudy. I also am researching Penny, Gill, Watt, Clauser.
Sandy Clauser Culp
There was a big Dragoo family in LaGrange County also.Quite a few buried
in Wood Lawn Cemtery.

Donna,
I see that your surname is Seidel,I'm wondering if you might know of
any Seidel family that had a daughter Sarah Jane born abt.1862? According to
her 1934 obituary she had a sister named Kate Tritch from Monpelier,OH and
she was born in "Star" county OH,obviously a mistake possibly Stark County
but have not been able to prove yet. Sarah Jane was my Gr gr grandmother she
married Orson Blowers in Noble Co. 1880. Their children's names are
Nora,Gertrude,Elsie, Tommy,Jacob,Seeley,Orson,Jacob, and Ernest.
I'm sorry if this a bother but I have been at a brick wall with her for
many years and couldn't pass up the chance to ask.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Take care,
Pati Blowers May

Hi all
I've been trying to determine what old newspapers are available on
microfilm (and where), especially before 1900. I can't tell from
looking at the web sites for the local libraries and couldn't tell what
they had.
My ancestors lived in Troy Twp in the NE corner of the county so it is
also possible that this area was covered by Edon and Edgerton OH
newspapers. I did find that the Bryan OH library had some newspapers
for that area.
Thanks.
Jackie Hanna
Researching: Robinett, Alwood, Swick, Geddes
And
Allied families: Rosenberry, McDonald, Thompson
All in Troy Twp
Thanks for the link, appreciate it.
