You have my permission to give my name and email address to anyone
interested in my surnames. The DeKalb Co IN WebPage is the BEST of the
counties that I am researching in! Thanks for all your good work.
I LOVE roll call! My DeKalb Co IN family are Otholic Hendricks TINDALL
1805-1875 and wife Nancy CHILCOTE 1802-1876, both are buried in White
City Cem.They had 7 chidren who married into the RHODES, WAGERS,
CAMPBELL, LYON, ZIMMERMAN, SHAFFER, LAKE and CLARK families. Happy to
share info.
John Beams married Barbara Bishop in Adams Co.PA abt 1833 and moved to Spencerville. Peter Bishop, her brother, also moved to IN. John Beams the son married first Alice Rhodes (1866) and second Frances Miller(1883). Frances' parents Jane Chamberlin and Abraham Miller moved from Logan Co.OH to Spencerville. Both were born in NJ.
Louisa Hall married Rudolph Bair. (1867) She had a daughter Dora Hall born 1856. (according to census in IN) Would like to know who Louisa's parents were and if she were a Hall by marriage or birth. Who was Dora's father? When did Louisa Bair die? Dora Hall married Cyrus Brandeberry (1880) and their daughter Pearl married Wilbur Newcomer.
Interested in any and all information on these families. Also have much to share.Judy Biebesheimer jdbieb(a)prodigy.net

Hi Carolyn;
I just say my dad a few minutes ago and asked him about the Hall's. It does
appear we are discussing the same couple. If I understood him correctly, in
there later years, they lived at Snow Lake (part of the Chain of Lakes) in
Stueben County. He spoke of them having a daughter, Betty who may have
married a man by the last name of Valentine and that they had 2 daughters.
Betty is a half sister to my dad and 5 years older. Let me know what you
have.
I'll send you what I have this weekend.
Thanks

I'll double check this weekend to determine if in fact we have a
match. If
there, my father, nephew to my Elsie will know more info as his
mother was
her sister.
There were 6 kids and keeping everyone straight has been a challenge
since
family relationships was not a big topic of discussion over the
years.
Thanks

Hi Steve,
Sounds like we might have a match! I know that William B.
Hall was
born in
1896 and died in 1967. I would imagine he and Elsie were
married
maybe in
about 1920 or thereabouts. I was in the Auburn Courthouse
several
times and
on one of those occasions looked for a marriage license
between
"Uncle Bill
and Aunt Elsie", but could not find one. You say they were
married
in
Garrett? Do you have the date?
I would be MOST grateful if you could find an approximate
date of
marriage
for me. Then, I can go about getting a photocopy of the
license
from the
courthouse.
Also, do you have a date of birth and date of death for
Elsie?
If there is any information I can provide to you on
William's
brother,
Walter Martin Hall, I have TONS since he was my grandfather.
Thanks a million!
Sincerely,
Carolyn DePaolo

Hi Pam!
Have you seen the info on these families in the 1990 DeKalb Co. History
book?
I only looked up the first two names, but they are in there.

I don't know if this will be a connection or not as there are so many
variant spellings of the Mackendorfer name.
Catharina Mackedorfer b. 1808 in Stark Co... Ohio, married to Daniel
Shull, born 1814 in Stark Co. Their son, Henry Franklin Shull was born 1840
in DeKalb, Indiana. The family moved to Nebraska where his daughter, my
grandmother was born. They then moved to Washington. He died in Stevens
Co., Washington.

My DeKalb names are in the subject line. They crossed back and forth over the
Steuben Co. line and many are buried in Hamilton. In addition, I'm searching
for Barron and Burk(e) in Steuben Co. and Deal, Goodsell, and Rawles in
LaGrange Co.
Thanks to all of you who have sent me information in the past. Any new leads
out there? You have permission to share these names with others doing
research.

Hi Karen,
Fremont Abel was my grandmother's uncle. I'll see what I can find out and
get back to you.
Yours in Christ,
Debbie

I'm looking for information on Ben Brand who lived in Ashley (or Dekalb County) around 1910. He was probably born about 1850 and may have come from Ohio or PA.

Hey Dan,
Have you looked in LaGrange County at all? I was there visiting family
this summer and went to the Greenwood Cemetery to visit the graves of my
Jackson's and while I was there I noticed several Draggoo graves, the reason
that the name stuck with me is because one of my Jackson Uncle's married Dora
Draggoo.
Good luck,
Pati

<< Hi Steve Tony,
Many are in the Jenkins Cemetery. I am looking for Sarah Jane Draggoo (her
line has two "g"s usually) though she married Henry Fetters first, she then
married McCue, Britton, O'neil and probably Rhodes last. Her birth was 1841
in Concord Township, and death may have been after 1890, most likely close
to DeKalb, if not there proper. This is about my only clues to go on. She
had Fetters children, but no others. Just can't locate her grave.
Thanks,
Dan >>
