Janeen-
I was wondering whether you know if your Davis' came through Madison Co.
Kentucky before Decatur. I have a Nellie (assumed Eleanor) Davis born abt 1800
in either Kentucky or South Carolina according to her children's census records
in 1880. She died between 1845-1850 in Adams Twp, Decatur Co., IN and is
buried at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Decatur. She was married to James
Byram/Byrum in Madison Co., KY on 1-20-1820. They moved to Indiana sometime around
1830. Father of the bride was listed as Joshua Davis. The Bondsman was also
listed as a Joshua Davis.
There was a Charles Davis married to a Elizabeth Carter in 1-3-1822 as well
in Madison Co., KY but I presume there are numerous Charles Davis'.
I also have a Mary Davis who married Thomas Goins in Madison Co., KY around
1841. Thomas is listed in Decatur in 1870 with his new wife Maria/Mariah Byram
(daughter of James Byram and Nellie Davis). I have always wondered if Mary
Davis was somehow related to Nellie Davis and that is how Thomas married into
that family after Mary's Death.
I live in California so access to Indiana records is more challenging:)

I tried to send this e-mail to the lady on the Decatur webpage that does
look-ups in the will book?but it came back so hoping someone on this list can
help me:
?Elijah Davis bought land in Dacatur Co., IN. on Dec 3 or 31, 1821? and says
he was from Jennings Co., IN. and he was on the 1820 census in Jennings Co.,
IN. over age 45. I believe he may be the father to my Charles Davis and
maybe the Jonathan Davis that went to Decatur also. I do not find Elijah Davis on
the 1830 so maybe he died there? Was wanting to know if he has a will in
Decatur? Thank-you so much for looking, Janeen Davis Proctor
