The former city hall at 109 S. Broadway in Greensburg, Indiana, will be
the scene of the dedication of the flag that was flown over the United States
Capitol building on 18, Feb. 2010, dedicated to the memory of Mary Margaret
(Peters) Maynard on her 92nd birthday..
Mary was City Clerk Treasurer in Greensburg, Decatur Co., IN from 1960 to
1976.
Mary was the widow of Arnold Maynard who died In Hamilton, OH in 1957.
She moved with her family of 6 girls to Greensburg and built a career as the
City Clerk Treasurer.
She was born in Owsley Co., KY in 1918, daughter of William and Flora
(Blake) Peters, and granddaughter of Henry C. and Mary Peters, and William C.
and Margrete Blake of KY, and great granddaughter of John Peters of Scott
Co., VA.. Mary died in Greensburg, 27 April, 1989.
Arnold Maynard was a son of Otto and Helen Francisco (Megley) Maynard,
grandson of George and Anneta (Harding) Maynard, and Egbert and Ella
(Francisco) Megley. He was great grandson of William and Martha (Clout) Maynard of
England, John W. and Mary (Finger) Megley of New York, Thomas and Louise
(Carr) Francisco of New York, and Elizabeth Harding of Salt Creek Twp.,
daughter of John and Susan (Abraham) Harding..
Friends are invited to attend the dedication of the flag, Monday, 31 May,
at 2 p.m. at 109 S. Broadway.
