Maybe this will help someone in their family history search. I am not a
member of the LDS Church, but they have filmed many many records for the
genealogists use. The use of the films at the Salt Lake City LDS Library
is free to the public if you visit there. Microfilm to other localities
LDS Centers and libraries rental fee for 30 days is only $3.25
The rental for 90 days is $6.50 the gentleman who said he paid $6.50
rental must have gotten the film for 90 days.
To put the microfilm on indefinite loan to the LDS Family History Center
of your choice is $9.75
You can get a lot off of a microfilm in 30 days for the $3.75 rental.
The indefinite rental for microfiche is only 15 cents very cheap rental.
If you look thru the LDS computer or microfiche catalogue of the LDS
holdings, there are many many films and fiche for Locality, surnames,
subject, and author etc. to help researchers.. Visit your state
Archives, your Local Public Library and the LDS library, the volunteers
are usually helpful and friendly at each of these places. We are there
to show you how to use the library and equipment, not to do your
research for you though. That is your responsibility.
We enjoy teaching others how to help themselves. Then others can go to
any state and make good use of their state Archives, local communities
libraries, LDs Centers and free sate & local inter-libraries loan system
etc. You then can take pride and accomplishment in having done your own
research. I am so thankful for the many volunteers over the country for
their time in showing me how and where to start my research. I have had
so many new cousins and friends
share their information and give me new clues where else to search. God
Bless Them All.
The Lord helps those who learn to help themselves, has always been my
motto.
I can't say for others of course.
