Hi everybody,
I've been watching with interest recent posts regarding the
Clarks who
moved from Kentucky to Indiana. My gggrandfather:
Cavil Clark b. 1811, Kentucky
m. Sarah Hobbs June 11th, 1834 in Decatur County
3/15/37 receives land in Franklin County, Indiana
In 1840, he was living in Salt Creek Twp, Decatur
County, Indiana
m. Harriet A. Kernodle May 28th, 1844 in Boone
County (cavil living in
Decatur county at the time)
I've gotten to wonder about land records & did a search for
Clarks that may
have applied for land in the Decatur/Franklin/Ripley area
and came up with
several who had similar signature dates on their land
patents. But I'm
afraid I don't quite know how to decipher the numbers. What
I'd like to
know if any of these pieces of land were in close proximity
to one another
in hopes of discovering a brother or other relative that
may have applied
for land at the same time. Here are a couple of examples:
Cavil Clark 3/15/1837
Nr. 1
Aliquot Parts SESW
Sec/Blk 10/
Township 11-N
Range 11-E
Fract. Sect. N
Meridian 2ND PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN
Acres 40
Counties FRANKLIN
Woodson Clark 8/10/1837
Nr. 1
AliquotParts E*N*
Sec/Blk 10/
Township 10-N
Range 11-E
Fract. Sect. Y
Meridian 2ND PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN
Acres 67.96
Counties FRANKLIN
Anybody have a primer available to understand these or know
of a map/legend
that might assist me.
Thanks,
David Clark
