I had to add my two cents so that I can get in on this -- I have a BURTON
line (Jane Burton who married William Walker) and she had a brother
Prettyman Burton who lived & died in Ninevah Twp, Johnson County I think,
but will check it out for sure if you are interested. I believe I have
most of the children of Prettyman through his 3 marriages but am always
looking for any other connections. Now the name Mahala/Mahalia is not an
uncommon name in my other lines. Also I have to add that that is the name
of my oldest great granddaughter - Kaelynne Mahalia -
AND yes I must admit with Patricia about (rainy) Washington State. I was
born here and I still live here although have lived a few other states I
came back and will eventually die here - rain or no rain - <grin>
What are some of the other names out of the BURTON line you are
researching?
Thank you for reading this.

Kathleen - I find the given name MAHALA an unusual name, but I have
one
also:
MAHALA BURTON, b abt 1826/27 in KY. Was still living with her sister
(who is my relative) in 1860 in Decatur Co., but could have married
right after that. Mahala's father was William W BURTON, mother
Susan(nah) who died between 1850-1860 and is buried in Greensburgh.
Could any of this mess fit into yours???
