The only thing I can add to this, is the Ferguson were daughters of Benjamin
Ferguson, who was the son of John Ferguson, also a Rev Vet.
Ben and wife Nancy Fear Ferguson also moved to Jasper County Illinois.
John Ferguson moved to Boone County Indiana and is buried in Cox cemetery.
Some of their children moved to Iowa and Kansas.

Subject: [INDECATU] William Hamler Fear
My name is Jerry Fear, and I joined the Decatur County mailing list
a
couple of months ago. For awhile I got several messages, but no traffic
at
all for some time, so I thought I might try to get something going.
My ggggrandfather was William Hamler Fear. He purchased 80 acres of land
in Clay Township, Decatur County on 3/15/1837. he and my ggggrandmother
Mary Delilah (Lanter) Fear are buried in the Center Grove Cemetery in Clay
County. They brought three daughters and five sons with them from
Kentucky. They had another daughter shortly after they arrived In Decatur
County.
Son Edmund moved to Iowa. Son James moved to Jasper County and then to
Kansas. son William G. (my gggrandfather) also moved to Jasper County
where he lived out his life. James and William married sisters by the
name
of Ferguson (Nancy and Judah) from Decatur County. Another son Henry
N.
(Newt) moved to Harrison Township in Blackford County.
As far as I know the other children stayed nearby and raised their
families
in that area. And I believe that there are still Fear's who live
there.
For several years I corresponded Barrett Fear, but I had heard that he had
a stroke and was unable to talk.
Delilah Lanter's father was Jacob Lanter, a Revolutionery War Veteran. a
descendent of his has been accepted into the Daughters of the American
Revolution and id listed in the Indiana chapters Directory. I have copies
of the original application that was approved, if anyone needs them.
We have a very complete chart of his descendents, but much less on in laws
and other living relatives in that area.
More importantly we have been unable to identify Wm. H.'s parents he was
born in December 1775 in Virginia. The dates (actually his life span) on
his tombstone do not match his reported birth date.
I be happy to hear from any Relatives or friends who might shed light on
their lives. Wm. H. was basically an illiterate farmer, and I've never
found any public mention of him in any of the local sources.
He died October 9/1861. Delilah was 20 years younger than Wm. but
followed
him in death November 18, 1865. I do not have obituaries, Does
anyone
know whether there may be some source in the area?
I have been to the Center Grove Cemetery, and I believe that the land he
purchased was close by.
