please keep in mind that this information has not be substantiated. Since

clues of where to look next. If anyone knows who the source is please
let me know.

". . . James Lett born in Virginia in 1747 . . . was a Revolutionary
Soldier of NC. His record of a Revolutionary Soldier is found in the
"Rosters of Rev. Soldiers of NC" published by the NCDAR. Served as
private in Col. Lytleís Co. of NC Militia. Enlisted June 20, 1780 for a
term of three years. (Ref. "Roster of Rev. Sol. Of NC" page 14, No. 89900
in 17th Annual Report of DAR; original record on file at Library of
Congress page 141, State Record of NC Abstract of Army Accounts of NC.
Settled at Warrenton, NC 1786, signed by H. Montfort, page 538.)"
"Newton Lett, born in Pike County, Indiana, Jan 10, 1817 . . . was
jovial, talkative, kind man, according to family narratives. His wife
Mary (Polly) Deputy was called Aunt "Pops" by the relatives. After the
death of her husband, she joined the Baptist Church with her children.
She was an invalid for 21 years, confined to her bed. She died at the age
of 83 years. . ."
"Rose (Rosa Marincia) Lett b. Apr. 27, 1858 Decatur Co., Ind. at "Old
Letts Corner." Died March 22, 1900, Decatur Co., Ind. a mile and a half
from the place where she was born. She married Albert Holmes Oct. 2,
1877. . . Two weeks after their marriage they went to Tarrant Co. Texas,
where they remained for five years. In 1882 they moved to Newport, Ky.
And after 3 years moved to the farm where she died in 1900."
"Alma Ruth Holmes . . . married Elvin Earl Byers . . . was manager of a
fruit ranch in the Verde Valley, Ariz. Near Jerome and Cottonwood until
August when they moved to the "Byers Homestead" farm near Franklin, Ind.
where they lived two years. In Jan. 1913 they moved to Senator Dunlapís
orchard farms near Flora, Ill. In Jan. 1924 moved to Vincennes, Ind.,
Knox Co., as manager of Dixie Orchard Co."
"The town of Letts, Decatur County, Ind., was named for Allen W. Lett, he
settled there, had a general store, helped build a school, organized the
Mount Aerie Baptist. The bricks were made by his son-in-law, Albert
Holmes, and his brothers. The church is a full time country church and
still stands, but the bricks have been covered by stucco. He is buried in
the cemetery adjoining the church."
" The town of Letts was named for Allen W. Lett, born in Jenning County
in 1837. He moved to Decatur County in 1868 and was founder and starter
of Lettís Corner." He came to the place when it was only a cross road and
built the first store. When the Michigan division of the Big Four
railroad was proposing a line from North Vernon to Greensburg, Allen W.
was instrumental (with a keg of whiskey) to persuade officers to make a
station a half mile from Lettís Corner. There the new town became known
as Letts."
"An important part of Lettsí history is Mt. Aerie Baptist Church. Allen
Lett headed a group who organized the church. A history of the origin of
Mt. Aerie Church as written by Allen Lett in 1874 is on record. He was
one of its first trustees, clerk of the church for many years, and is
buried in the church cemetery."
