Joseph Morley married Martha Johnson d/o Bailey and Margaret Johnson and were living next
to them in 1840 census (Clinton Twp. Decatur County). In "Pioneers of the
Prairie" by Wilma Brunenn (page 563) it states Joseph& Martha Morley family left
their home in Greensburg, IN moving West when they were stricken with Cholera and Joseph
& Martha and one son, William, died at their trailside camp and were buried in Hancock
County, IL. This left three orphan children who were taken in and raised by by residents
in Hancock Co. IL. One of those surviving children was my G-Grandfather, Joseph Theodore
Morley, who I have good information on. I need help finding information on Bailey Johnson
who was still living in Decatur County in 1850 census at age 75 working as a carpenter,
place of birth VA, and hopefully some indication of Joseph Morley's origins.
Has anyone come across either of these families or does anyone have a suggestion where to
go from here? The common surnames have added to my difficulties. Thank you.
