Tom-
I am glad that you reached out regarding the Gilmour's/Gilmore family as I
have some pictures that you may be interested in seeing.
As you mentioned, Thomas and Nancy Gilmour from Scotland had 5 children that
we know of: Andrew, John, Joseph G. (b. Oct 31, 1845, d. Aug 14, 1918 &
listed as Joshua in 1860 census), Hugh C. and Mary L.. They are in Springfield,
Franklin Co., Indiana in the 1850 census and then Sandcreek, Decatur Co., IN
from 1860 on.
Although, I am not directly related to the family, Joseph G.'s son Hugh
Myers Gilmour (b. 1890 d. 1972) appears to have been one of my grandfather Harry
Arthur Galbraith's best friends. Joseph G.'s daughter and Hugh Myers's sister
"Mary Neva" (b. 1883 d. 1979) was also married to Harold Arthur Galbraith
(my grandfather's namesake and uncle). I have several pictures of Hugh Myers
Gilmour/Gilmore from his college days attending Gem City Business College in
Quincy, Illinois with my grandfather in 1910. I also have a great picture of the
"Indiana Group" that attended Gem City that year. There were 8 individuals
(1 female and 7 males) but unfortunately their names are not listed. I would
be happy to send you electronic copies of the pictures.

Galbraith Descendant
Thank you so much for responding. My great grandfather, John William,
appeared in Birmingham, AL immediately after the Civil War and never
returned to Indiana. Therefore, his descendents knew nothing about his
family and no attempt had been made to trace geneology by anyone until
recently by me and another descendent. I would very much enjoy seeing the
pictures that you mentioned. Also, I will be leaving Birmingham this
weekend for a visit to Kentucky and Indiana and plan to spend Monday, Oct. 2
in Decatur and Franklin counties while in the area. If you know of anything
I could be looking for in Franklin County, please let me know. I am to see
the county historian for Decatur County, Russell Wilhoit, Monday am but had
no idea that I should also be looking in Franklin County. Thank you again
for your help. TOM GILMORE
