Subject: Can you help with this Christian Barger?
If anyone has worked on this Barger line, Iíd love to hear comments on
it. Any proof that the 4 or 5 Bargers who married in Monroe Co. VA are
the children of Christian Barger and Elizabeth Baer/Bare?
I am working on a theory that these census listings are one and the same
person:
1. Christn Barger in Augusta VA 1810 census
2. Chritian/ Cristain Barger in Monroe County VA on 1820 & 1830 censuses
3. Christian Barger in Decatur County, Indiana in 1850
Here is the 1810 Augusta VA census listing for Christn Barger:
(Some indexes incorrectly transcribe the first name as Chester)
3 males aged 10 and under
1 male aged 11 - 15
1 male aged 21 - 45
2 females aged 10 and under
2 females aged 11 - 15
2 females aged 21 - 45
LDS records (
FamilySearch.com) lists the following family of Christian
BARGER and Elizabeth BAER:
i. SUSAN BARGER, b. October 23, 1796; m. WILLIAM JONES, March 06, 1816,
Monroe Co. VA.
ii. JACOB BARGER, b. September 09, 1800.
(Could he be the same Jacob Barger who married Ruth Handley in Monroe
County, VA in 1823? He couldnít have been born
so close in time to his sister Elizabeth, so one of their birthdates is
incorrect).
iii. ELIZABETH BARGER, b. October 09, 1800
(Could she be the same Elizabeth who married Samuel Handley in Monroe
Co. VA in 1821? Elizabeth said on 1880 census
report that both her parents were born in Pennsylvania).
iv. ANNIE BARGER, b. October 26, 1802.
(Could she be the same Ann who married Joshua Meadows in Monroe Co. VA
on Nov. 8, 1824? She has been called Mary
Ann by some researchers).
v. JOHN WESLEY BARGER, b. October 01, 1804. Is he the same John Barger
who was on the 1840 census of Monroe
Co. VA?
Barger, John, p. 180
1 male under 5
1 male 5 - 9
1 male 30 - 39
1 female under 5
1 female 5 - 9
1 female 20 - 29
vi. SARAH BARGER, b. May 17, 1806.
(Could she be the Sarah "Sally" Barger who married Thomas Meadows in
Monroe Co. VA on Jan. 9, 1828?)
vii. SAMUEL BARGER, b. October 31, 1808.
viii. DAVID BARGER, b. April 17, 1810, Monroe Co. VA.
He married ANN MARSHALL in Decatur Co. Indiana.

Subject: [BURNS] Re: Morgan Burns
Hello list,
I am new to the list. I am a descendant of Morgan Burns (b. 20 Nov 1818
or
Sep 1817, Indiana). He married Jane Jacobus (b. abt 1823, Decatur
Co.,
Indiana) on 11 Jan 1844 in Decatur Co., IN. They later (late 1840s) moved
to St. Anne, Kankakee Co., IL where they had children:
Lorenzo George, b. 15 Jan 1845, Indiana
Ellen, b. 24 Apr 1846, Indiana
Clarissa, b. 23 Nov 1847, Illinois
Jefferson, b. 13 Apr 1849 (my line) this and all remaining children
born
in St. Anne, Kankakee Co., IL
James, b. 17 Oct 1850
Anne, b. 24 May 1852
William Mylan, b. 11 Jan 1854
Caroline, b. 14 Apr 1856
Martha, b. 6 Jan 1857
Marietta, b. 20 Dec 1858
Morgan died 25 Sep 1901 in St. Anne, Kankakee, IL. Jane died much
earlier,
sometime after 1863 in Kankakee Co.
I am trying to trace my Burns line further back. Anyone having
information
or has knowledge of a published book that ties into this line, plz
let me
know. At one time (1980s) I corresponded with a Jack W. Burns of Shell
Knob, MO whose Burns line tied into mine, but I have not heard from him in
a
number of years.
Thanks.
