Obituary
TWO KILLED IN TRAIN WRECK
Two men, Engineer NICELY and Firemen AFESON at the call of duty rode to
their death Saturday morning through somebodys carelessness.
A cut of gondolas loaded with coal supposed to be put safely away on a
siding slipped out of the lower yards past a switch and a derail down
the Louisville track towards Muddy Fork in time to meet the freight
driven by Nicely, with out warning. The force of the impact turned the
heavy engine twice over and to the bottom of the 20 foot embankment.
J.P. NICELY was pinned beneath his engine and scalded to death by
escaping steam and Ole OLESON fireman was so badly scalded and otherwise
injured that he died before noon Saturday. J.M. BRYANT, conductor, Ivan
JONES and E.A. BRANNEMER were all injured painfully. A car of hogs and
other merchandise were burned. Farmers from the neighborhood hurried t
the scene but were unable to help the injured. An investigation is

Hazel CRIPPEN BUSSEL, the beloved wife of Lewis BUSSELL died about five
oclock Friday evening at their home, corner First and Anderson streets
of tuberculosis, at the age of nineteen years.
She had been doing a womans work since her mothers death several
years ago taking care of a school girl sister and making the living.
Her short life was filled with acts of kindness.
Less than a year ago she married Lewis BUSSELL and the first sweet
months of their honeymoon, the brightest in her life, were rudely
interrupted by serious attack of dread disease. In her last illness the
husband has been in constant attendance in the sick room all his spare
time and devoted to her care.
She suffered cheerfully and bravely and appreciated the loving care of
those about her.
The sorrowing husband and two sisters have the sympathy of a large
circle of friends.
The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon, interment in South Park.
