John,
In case this helps,
there were GILLILAND in Wayne and Jefferson Co, IL early.
Many of the early Wayne and Jefferson Co, IL residents came from Indiana.

Subject: [INDECATU] Robert GILLILAND
I am trying to trace my 4ggrandfather, Robert GILLILAND (b. 1748), and
I
suspect he
may have migrated to Decatur County with his son John J. GILLILAND (b.
1774, VA; d.
1873, Bartholomew, IN). John J. is reported to have been buried in
Gilmore
Cemetery.
John J. patented land in and around Clay Twp., Decatur County, starting in
1829.
This included the land which became Swinney Cemetery, so perhaps Robert is
buried
there.
There is also the possibility that he left a will which might have been
probated in
Decatur County. Can anyone help me?
