Dear Milt,
I would be honored and delighted to be of assistance.
Let me know what I can do.
I grew up in Greensburg, have a farm in Jackson Township, and still have relatives in the
area.
Regards,
Linda

Subject: FamilySearch Vital Record Indexing Project - Volunteer
Assistance
TO: Persons Interested In Genealogy / Family History; Library and
Genealogical Society Officials
I am writing to ask for your help with a major Name Extraction/
Indexing Project. The leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints have committed to digitize and index the entire Vital
Record holdings of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City over
the next 7 - 10 years. The result of this project will be made
available to the general public, free of charge, over the
www.Familysearch.org and selected partner websites. Major releases of
completed projects will begin later this year.
TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MASSIVE UNDERTAKING, WE NEED 250,000 VOLUNTEERS TO
HELP ENTER DATA. THIS MAJOR PROJECT WILL BENEFIT ALL GENEALOGISTS &
FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCHERS.
TO VOLUNTEER SIMPLY SEND ME A RETURN E-MAIL. In a few days you will
receive a User ID and password to access the Family Search Indexing
website.
IF YOU HAVE A BULLETIN BOARD (REAL OR VIRTUAL), WEB SITE, NEWSLETTER,
OR OTHER MEANS OF CONTACTING PERSONS INVOLVED IN GENEALOGICAL
RESEARCH. PLEASE POST OR INCLUDE THE INFORMATION ON THE ATTACHED FLYER.
All work is done from your own computer over the Internet. No paper
files or floppy disks to exchange.
Any level of commitment is welcome. If you can spend one hour a week
or even one hour a month you can make a significant contribution.
The Church has developed new software (available without charge) to
facilitate this effort. Computer based tutorials are designed to
train new Indexers. Indexing is not cumbersome. It involves no
paperwork. There are no significant coordination and review
requirements by the extractor.
A single record batch can be completed in about 45 minutes
(with basic keyboard skills)
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, CONTACT ME AND I WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION.
We encourage you to invite your friends, relatives, neighbors,
acquaintances, co-workers, school mates, etc. to participate.
Thank You in advance for your assistance,
Milt Rhynard
