At long last I have managed to put up on the Decatur GenWeb site a number
of documents which Barb Huff kindly transcribed and sent to me several
months ago. My apologies, especially to Barb, for the delay.
In 1907 the Greensburg Standard published a series of pioneer biographies,
and these are now available at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~indecatu/Pioneers.html which is linked to the
Decatur GenWeb homepage through the Biographies page. The following
biographies appear:
Baker, Marsh William
Bonner, James F
Bunker, Dr Leonard Cuyler
Coy, Matthew
Creath, Almon S
Donnell, Camilla T
Edkins, Eb
Elder, Dyer Cobb
Ewing, Abel
Hamilton, Robert A
Lambert, Paschal T
Leggitt, James
Miller, William Lee
Robison, Hon. James B
Sefton, James
Stagg, Phillip Doddridge
VanBuskirk, Daniel R
White, Edwin
In addition Barb has transribed early newspaper items containing lists of
names:
an 1836 list of addressees of letters held at the Greensburg PO
an 1853 list of "those who have been in Decatur county 25 years and upwards
that attended the (Pioneer) celebration."
an 1866 list of "heavy tax payers"
These appear at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~indecatu/newspaper.html which is
linked to the homepage as Newspaper Items.
All of these pages can be searched through the search function on the homepage.
