Hi Betty,
Saw your message re: the KERSEY family of Decatur Co. My line is the
family of David WALLACE, also of Decatur Co.
David & Demmis (Oakes) Wallace's son John O. WALLACE married Margaret
KERSEY in 1856 and had at least 3 children: Charlotte b. ca 1859, Laurana
b. Apr 1860 and Isabel b. 1862. John O. had 2 daughters from his first
marriage to Elizabeth CRANEL in 1851: Elizabeth Ellen b. ca 1852 and
Sabia b. ca 1854.
After Margaret died (3 Jan 1898) John O. married 3rd Mary Ann ABBOTT in
Sep 1898. Margaret is buried in Ross Cemetery in Salt Creek Twp., Decatur
Co.
From the 1850 Decatur Co. census I "assumed" that John
KERSEY age 81 and
Kisiah age 72 were Margaret's parents, but I guess they COULD
be her
grandparents(or aunt and uncle or???)! You mentioned John Kersey's
granddaughter, Mary Ann . . . . who are her parents? And who is the John
age 3 living with them?
I'd like to get the Kersey information straightened out. Hope you hear
from people who know more than I do!
Please keep me informed on what you learn.

Hi All;
I'm looking for information on the Kerseys of Decatur Co. In. from
1830 on.
Especially John Kersey who is age 81 in the 1850 census, b in Va.
wife Kisiah.
Could he be father to John Kersey who married Cathrine Kendall and
Edward
Kersey who married Anna King???
The 1850 censusshows John Kersey's granddaughter, Mary Ann. Is this
the
Mary Ann who married Alniona (Almon)Luther in 1854. (They're in
1860
census.)
Also in John Kerseys household in 1850 census was a daughter,
Margrett. Is
she the Margret who married John Wallace?
Can anyone confirm or add ANY information to the above? Or tell me
anything about any of the Decatur County Kerseys? Kerseys.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much....betty
