Either Henry, b. 1822, or Robert Cotton, b. 1824, both in Vermilion County
could be the father of William K. Cotton. William's son, John Henry Cotton
b. 1841, was the father of William Edgar Cotton, b. 1868 in Danville, IL. I
have not been able to get the birth record for William Edgar Cotton, but he
had Danville on all his papers as the place of his birth.
John Henry Cotton is listed as the son of William K. Cotton on the census at
about the age of 6 or 7.

Velda:
Determining whether city or county is part of your research chores. But
just maybe we could help, if we knew when your COTTONS lived in Decatur.
And give us a start with a given name and birthdate or two. Otherwise,
you can search BOTH counties -- Decatur and Adams. No law agin that!

I am researching the COTTON surname. I don't know if I should be
looking
in
the Decatur city or county. Some of the Cottons lived in Decatur
(city or
county) in Indiana. Would someone please help me find out where to look?
Thank you!
