Would someone please help me find the death date/place and burial place for Jacob
Funcannon, son of Elijah and Julia Killian Funcannon and husband of Emily Caroline Beck?
I have tried finding it in every way I know how online. Unfortunately,I don't think I
will be able to go to Indiana to look for myself.
Ancestry had one hit (using Soundex) for a Jacob Foncannon who died around the same time
in Vermillion County. I called the Health Dept. in Vermillion and they sent me a copy of
his death record. The lady there was even so nice as to go and pull the actual record to
get all the info for me (she said they didn't put all the info into the computer, just
name, dates, doctor, and cod). That man is not him, his father was Jacob Foncannon and
Catherine Culp of PA. He was born in 1825. And his wife was Mary. Those names were
nowhere near what my Jacob's family members were.
This is what I know:
Jacob Write Funcannon was born in Indiana (probably either Martin or Daviess County) to
Elijah Funcannon of SC and Julia Ann Killian of IN in September of 1850. He married Emily
Caroline Beck, daughter of John Beck and Nancy B. ???? on June 14, 1874 in Daviess County.
They then had 3 children Elijah William Funcannon (11-17-1883, Knox County), Damon R.
Funcannon (9-16-1891 Daviess County), and Julie(a) Belle Funcannon (8-12-1879, Knox
County).
In 1880, Jacob and Emily were living in Knox County with his widowed mother, Julia
Funcannon.
In 1900, Jacob and Emily were living with just their children in Knox County. They were
listed as Funsamin.
In 1906, Elijah married Lizzie Fettic and the family was living in Plainville.
In January of 1908, Elijah and Lizzie went to Dugger to visit them and their baby died
either on the way to or on the way home from the visit.
In 1910, Caroline was a widow living with her 2 sons in Steele, Daviess County.
In 1920, Caroline was living in Edwardsport, Knox County, with her daughter Juila.
Caroline died January 27, 1930 while living near Epsom with Julia. Her obituary states
that funeral arrangements were not complete. So, I am really not sure where to look.
It's possible that they are buried in Plainville, but they were not listed in the
index. It is also possible that they were buried in Elnora with the other members of
Jacob's family, again not listed in the index. Of course, it is possible that they
are in neither of those places and I'm just guessing.
So, is there any way that someone can help me find out when/where Jacob died and where
they might be buried? I'm looking at sometime between January 1908 and April 28, 1910
when the census was recorded. He seems to have been in Daviess and Knox counties for the
majority of the time. And it's possible he died near Dugger, if he lived in the same
place that Elijah and Lizzie were visiting at the time of their daughter's death.
I'm just guessing here. I really don't have a clue.
Thank you!
