In 1900, are father and daughter living in Steele, Daviess, Indiana?
If so, the census says she is divorced. You might look at probate
court records, then, instead of death records, between 1894 and 1900.

Hi-- I am wondering if anyone has access to the early deaths in
Daviess CO-- say from 1894-1905. I have a Jacob August Jerger, born in Dubois CO Feb
24, 1866, married Mary Theresa "Theresa" Engelhart in Dubois CO on Aug 22,
1893. They had a daughter, Bertha Elizabeth on Jan 19, 1894-- Bertha died Oct 9, 1894.
Sometime then Theresa goes to Daviess CO with her widowed father, Paul Eusebus
Engelhart. She gives birth to a son, Paul F. on Nov 6, 1895. She married Charles
"Bert" Harbstreit on Apr 9, 1904 Daviess CO. Paul is not listed in 1900,
goes by Harbstreit in 1910 and 1920 and by Engelhart in 1930. I did call the health
dept and they told me that on Paul's birth certificate, no father was listed, only
the mother Theresa Engelhart. I cannot find any death on Jacob Jerger in Dubois CO,
so I am wondering if he perhaps died in Daviess? Can anyone help me? Thanks.
