Library is really great ( do look at old compiled notebooks and out of
print books in the genealogy room). County courthouse has original records.
You might do yourself a big favor and do all you can online at
ancestry.com
(marriages and census) before you go.
Also since the Family History Library microfilmed all the records in the
courthouse, checking the catalog of what's actually available might help you
set research goals. (_www.familysearch.org_ (
http://www.familysearch.org)
then click on catalog)
When I did a big research trip, I found it helpful to make a notebook with
each place or repository I was going to (even down to which records in a
courthouse that I wanted to search)..a page for each. Then I listed the
names and dates of those I wanted to look up. that way I didn't forget anyone
or important data. It sure saves time when you are finally there and
keeps your notes in relatively good order when you get really busy.
Have a great time!

So I'm taking my first genealogy field trip to Daviess Co. this summer.
:) (My fun little phrase for a mini-vacation to do some research and see
places my family lived.) I have TONS of family members from Daviess Co and
the surrounding areas. So, what I'm wondering is.... what places would you
be sure to hit?
I'm thinking library, historical society, cemetaries of relevance....
Anywhere else to hit? I'd like to hear from anyone who has something to share
but someone familiar with Daviess Co would be awesome! :)
