Lisa,
I was so excited to get your response. I've hit deadends on some of these people. I
looked at your tree and was disappointed that in some cases we aren't following the
same lines. For example, Wm. B Padgett isn't (as you intimated)"my" Wm B
Padgett, though they were born at approximately the same time. I have proof that Wm.
B's father and mother were William Sr and Elizabeth "Mary" Ash. If you have
any info on them I would really appreciate it. I have a possibility for WM Sr's
parents being Henry and Rachel- not confirmed. And no further info on Mary, though there
were a lot of Ashes in S. Indiana at that time, as well as Padgetts. My grandmother Aikman
told us that her grandfather Padgett died in the Civil War. I can't confirm that
either. There are several Padgett from S. IN who were in the war so I couldn't follow
the trail. There is a Wm B. in the war records shown to have died before 1870 and Mary,
his wife, appears in the census without him in 1870. So far I can't pinp!
oint the date.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Regards, Sue
I was surprised on your tree to find that Mary Cissell's parents may be Wm and
Catherine. I have them as James S and Elizabeth Edelen, though I am aware that there is
some question about this line. Again, many Cissells in the community. I was surprised,
though to see that William would have been 62 when Mary was born and her sister Catherine,
23. You have no date for the mother's birth but she would not have been a young woman
at Mary's birth. Nonetheless, it certainly could have happened if she was considerably
younger than William and married in her teens.
