So, wrong again, partly... :) Just got off the phone with my aunt who acknowledged her
grandfather did die in LA County. She thinks it was Pasadena. He was there visiting his
daughters Stella, Corrine and Bernadine whom he hated being away from. (He had actually
followed Stella to SD when her husband took a job there and convinced almost all the other
married children to come too.) My aunt wasn't sure if Andrew had a heart attack or
what exactly.
Marie Hopkins Albright was living in the area at the time as well. Sidenote: LOL,
apparently she was on "To Tell the Truth" when she was 83. The panel not
believing that she could possibly be that old! I believe that from the photo I have of
her, a very sweet youthful face.
My ggrandmother died in Aberdeen 2 years later. She was living with her son William at
the time.
Sorry, no idea what happened to Frances Hopkins. I have she was only 30. Birthdate from
the Cunningham papers was 22 Oct 1868, death 26 Jan 1899. I wonder if it could have been
in child birth, but that's just a guess. I know there were some real issues with
influenza then too. I don't see that J. B. noted, but will keep looking. My
great-aunt Mary died only 28 in 1920, and her sister was only 21, 1896, when she died.
One of the reasons, I'm sure, my ggfather wsa so keen to stay close to the others.
