Constance, you're welcome, and let me know if you need more specific info. I just
might have it.

Thanks for this information. I do need to learn more about the Mattingly
line. At this time I know only what I provided because of their association
with the Trisler line, which is my line. I will need to do some more
research and you have given me some very good leads. I appreciate it.

Subject: Re: [INDAVIES] Mattingly history
All of these Mattinglys came from Maryland, they are descended from the
Immigrant Thomas Mattingly I, who came from ENG to St. Mary's Co. Thomas I
died young in MD in 1664, leaving a wife, Elizabeth, two sons Thomas II and
Cezar, and two daughters, Judith and Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Walter
Pake (Peake?) after the 1664 death of Thomas I.
A lot of Mattingly ancestry can be gleaned from the archives of the
Mattingly surname list on
Rootsweb.com. It is confusing and is compounded
by the repetition of family names (Thomas, Elizabeth, Judith, Mary, James,
John, John Baptist, William, etc.) so checking and double checking source
info is a MUST!

of men with the surname Mattingly. Do you know anything further about
them? I have some information on Barton Mattingly of Mason County,
Kentucky. His daughters, Matilida and Catherine married brothers James and
Michael Trisler in Mason County, Kentucky in 1847 and 1850. Barton was the
son of John Townley Mattingly. Barton Mattingly is said to have been born
about 1804 in Kentucky and died 31 May 1871 in Mason County, Kentucky. I
would be interested in knowing if there is any connection between the men
you mention and Barton Mattingly.
