Thank you JoAnn for the additional info on Elizabeth Josephine, I did not have
that. I believe I have one son listed as Charles AND Thomas, so probably really
only 10 children. I've just been working on this family and actually have some
info in add. to what I'm listing, but have to head out and wanted to post what I
have handy.
Simpson Benedict Padgett b. 26 Nov 1833 Perry Twp, Martin IN son of Charles W.
and Mary Polly Strange and Elizabeth Gootee b. 20 May 1833 Martin Co. IN,
daughter of Thomas Nesbe Gootee and Nancy Silvers children were:
William Lawrence 1853-1899 married Mary E. Williams
Mary Caroline 1856-aft 1912 married John M. Walker Jr.
Phebe Ann 1858-1912 married Clement Lorenzo Gootee
Charles J. abt Apr 1860
Thomas abt 1860 -- Guessing this Thomas and Charles above are actually one and
the same. Listed as Thomas1880, does not appear 1870 census unless he's
Charles.
Laura Jane 1863-
John Albert 1864-1880
Glenn 1865-bef 1870
Susan Lucinda 1868-1945 married Joseph Weilandt
Margaret Ellen 1869-1950 married William HIram Fields
Elizabeth "Lizzie" 1873, and this would be the Elizabeth that married Louis
Norris
Simpson's brother Willaim Benjamin & Minerva Jane Seal are my great-great
grandparents. I have copies of pages of couple diff family bibles in addition
to references by several other descendents I am working with.

Tom, I see you're still around, hope you get notification of this message. I
too have Padgett connections. My records show Thomas N. Gootee's daughter
Elizabeth Gootee married Simpson B. Padgett 1852 St. Mary's, per 1900 census
they were married 48 years, 11 children. We must be talking two diff
Elizabeth's, but seem to be showing same ancestry for her as I have no spouse
John Norris.
Care to compare?
Anyone else care to chime in, please do. If I have it wrong, I would like to
correct.
Lisa
